So while I've been away on my holibobs with Marisa, Katie and Dan - we've had a few sign ups for next years camp, taking the tally to 38. A big welcome to Larissa Herriman who (I think) will be at Myerscough next season, correct me if I'm wrong. She will be joined by Kristin Reade from Basketball Paisley. In the male department, we welcome back Alex Courtman from Barrow Thorns, Liam and Daniel Burns from Durham Wildcats and Callum Lea from West Lancs Warriors. All of them are returning campers, with some of them having been here loads of times before. Great stuff !
Tonight we are delighted to welcome back Kobe Skedd for our 2018 camp. Kobe was with us for his first time in 2017 but obviously enjoyed it enough to come back. Kobe is joined by two rookie Eurocampers who I think could be club mates of his, they are Max and Dan Poulter from Tees Valley Mohawks, Its great to see returning campers and brill to welcome new ones. That takes us to 31 campers already.
Our latest recruits for 2018 are all returning campers, in the shape of Ryan Ellison (Manchester Magic), Lois Morrell and Samuel Dixon (Both Barrow Thorns). Welcome back to all of you.
I think Noreen(Nozzer) had a fab time at Eurocamp Barrow this year 😁😁😁
Anyone lost these?
and we are very pleased to announce that Craig Miller will be back to see us in 2018 💪👌
Well, since my last post, we have had a number of campers sign up for 2018. One that I can't mention because its a gift for Christmas, the mystery man (or woman) is joined by returning campers Paul Gibbons (Ayr Storm) Bailey Thomson (St Mirren) Thomas Gill (Barrow Thorns) Dane Carr (Leicester Riders) Shea Whelan (Barrow Thorns) Elliot Jerrard (Newcastle Eagles) Fletcher Beveridge and Charlotte Rowbotham (waiting for booking forms so I won't mention clubs in case they've changed :). They will all be joined by Eurocamp Barrow rookie, Andrew Halfacre, details awaited. So basically, we have 23 campers good to go for 2018, brilliant start
It's time for a big thank you to all the organisations and individuals that make Barrow Eurocamp happen, without them it wouldn't be the event that it is so I send my sincere thanks to everyone and I hope I haven't forgotten anyone. Organisations: Chetwynde School, Walney School, Dowdales School, Furness College, Furness Academy, Barrow 6th Form College, Coal Clough Academy, Burnley, Bedz4hire, Cathy and her team from Orian Catering, Deltawaite, Cumbria Community Transport and a special mention to Jeanette and Paul from Central Sports who prepare the kit/T Shirts/Hoodies etc for all of our Eurocamps, a massive job and they have to put up with me too. Individuals Marisa and Nozzer - shop keepers and the first point of contact between campers and camp admin. Martin, Sam, Pete, Dan W, Gareth, Dan S - Overnight staff at Chetwynde, van drivers, referees, emergency airport transfers, bed putter uppers and taker downers, cleaners - you name it they've done it. Mike is included there too in all but overnight stays. Katie and Marisa, female overnight staff at Hoops, Katie coaching and doing some minibusing too. Rachel, Becca and Dan w - medical provision and sports therapy. Stan, Paul, Karl, Paige and Ian - drivers and we even got Paige to do some reffing too Refs Sophie, Ian, Niall, Alex Guy, who couldn't make the camp due to illness, but help with some souvenir T Shirts and setting up before camp. Alan and the site team at Chetwynde. Ron for spending the year going backwards and forwards to the bank, helping with the big set up and clean up. Dan S and Sam who had to muck in and drive minibuses at the drop of a hat when we needed them. All in all, everyone went above and beyond, the flexibility and willingness of people to just do what needed to be done, was awesome and makes me proud to have such a great team of people to work with. Thanks everyone.
So as anyone involved with basketball will know, the IOC has added 3v3 basketball to the line up for the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo. We have always ended our camp with a 3v3 tournament but in response to the IOC announcement we added 3v3 principles of play into the coaching programme for the week to develop and prepare players for the future. The 3v3 tournament went ahead as usual, here are the winners.
