Local organisation, Lean On Me, are holding their first event tomorrow with their Candlelit Walk. Participants will be meeting at the car park beside Barrhead Train Station and walking up Cross Arthurlie Street, along Main Street before finishing up at Cowan Park. The organisation are looking to raise awareness of mental health issues, especially with local young people. They are supporting Music On Prescription. If you want to take part, or show your support, head on over to their page. They would already like to pass their thanks to all businesses and especially The Brig Inn Barrhead, Arthurlie Inns, Photography by Derek Young, Janet Foy and Fereneze Golf Club for their extra help! Also, a big huge thank you to St John's Bowling Hub for offering use of their hall completely free of charge.
We’ve almost got that Friday feeling meaning that it’s time for this week’s #ThrowbackThursday! This brilliant photo is of 'The Centre' (at the junction of Cross Arthurliet St & Cochrane St). If this photo were taken today, you would find Barrhead Shoe Repairs, Salon One andSlate Hair Styling in it - but way back in the early 1900's it would have been 'Campbells', an Ironmonger, a Stationer and a Tobacconist! We're not sure what the crowd are waiting for though - any ideas?
It's now less than two weeks until second annual Easter Egg hunt and the Easter Bunny is hard at work! There will be over 100 eggs to be found with a variety of clues posted to help you find the chocolate prizes so hit 'going' on the event page to ensure you don't miss out!

After the past few weeks of snow we’re ready for some warmer weather over here so today’s #ThrowbackThursday sees us going back to 1975 when the Auchenback paddling pool was being well enjoyed during the summer holidays! The park’s changed a lot since then but do you remember when the paddling pool was there and did you ever get to use it? Image courtesy of Stephen Mansfield: Photo Archiver
