http://www.cairngormmountain.org CairnGorm Mountain is Britain's 6th highest mountain and lies 9 miles east of Aviemore, just off the A9 to Inverness in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park.
The UK’s highest funicular railway takes visitors on a spectacular journey from the Base Station at 635m (2083ft) to the Ptarmigan Top Station 1097m (3598ft) above sea level and just below the summit of Cairn Gorm at 1245m (4084ft) – Britain’s 6th Highest Mountain.
CairnGorm is Britain’s most popular winter sports destination with 11 ski lifts including the funicular railway and over 30km of pisted runs suitable for beginners to experts. There is also a terrain/fun park for freestyle enthusiasts.
In winter the Cairngorms offer some of the most challenging ice climbing in the UK. Visitors can check out the conditions at the Ranger Base and leave their route cards there. Returning they can catch the down train to the Storehouse where we serve a mouth-watering selection of food.
In the months when we are not offering snowsports one of the highlights when you visit here is to go walking in the area. The Essential Summit Trail and Wilderness Day Hike and the are accompanied by an experienced guide.
The other facilities at CairnGorm include the Shop @ the Top, The Outfitters, Ptarmigan Restaurant and the Storehouse, Ski Hire, CairnGorm Mountain Snow School, Mountain Ranger Service and Ranger Base, Wild Mountain Garden, All Abilities Walking Trail and Camera Obscura.
Welcome to CairnGorm Mountain’s Facebook page which is managed by our marketing team. They'll try to respond from 9am-5pm (GMT), Monday to Friday. Our technical operations team start work earlier than that however and it is this team that post up to date information about conditions on the mountain as early as possible, 7 days a week, so that you can plan your visit here.

Friday 9th March 7.15 am Winds at the top are WSW, 25 - 35 mph, -2.0c. Snow showers and ground drifting at present with variable to good visibility at present. The runs are grooming up very nicely with the fresh and drifted snow. All lifts and terrain are available subject to demand and weather conditions First lifts from 9.00 am. Enjoy your day. Thursday 8th March 5.00 pm. Another not too shabby day on the Big Blue, with almost 1200 folks up enjoying the great weather and great snow conditions. Great top to base snowsports across the whole mountain, and some pretty tasty runs to be had on Ryvoan, Ciste Gully and No.1 Gully. Forecast for tomorrow is for Southerly winds of 25 - 35 mph, snow showers and sunny spells. All terrain will be available and all uplift available subject to demand and weather conditions. Thursday 8th March 7.15 am. Bonnie morning at present, with winds at the top coming from a SSE direction, 20 - 25 mph.Temperature of -5.0c. -3.0c at Mid Station. Good to moderate visibility with some hill cloud coming and going. Roads and car parks clear but be aware of black ice from Aviemore to Glenmore. The snow is grooming up nicely in many places, however be aware of the odd hard and icy patch in occasional areas. Good to go for the train and lower lifts from 9.00 am. Enjoy your day. Cheers Ops 1
End of day Wednesday 7th March. Some fantastic snow conditions today, with all the main runs loaded. A lot of dozing and grooming today to get the hill back into great shape after several days of poor visibility and drifting. The temperature rise this afternoon has firmed up the snow pack from the middle of Coire Cas, with drifting powder above. The M2 and Daylodge pistes, are excellent, full width for the full length. Army racing on the White Lady piste tomorrow. Considerable Avalanche danger at the moment on the Coronation Wall and Head wall. Coire Cas Head Wall did Avalanche today. Forecast tomorrow is Southerly winds 20 to 30 mph with a temperature of -5C and some snow showers. Snow sports scheduled to Open at 9am updates from around 7am. Ops2.
10:45 am Wednesday 7th March. Winds increasing now with ground drifting at all levels this may start to affect the access road. Winds SE 30mph with good visibility and a temperature of -4C at the Top station. Expect delays as we have a lot of snow to move around, as this is the first day in many that we have had visibility to allow machines to work on the upper mountain. We are open upto the top of the Cas with more lifts coming on as the day progresses. Pistes are grooming up superb today with perfect snow conditions. Army Races on the White Lady piste. The Funicular Railway is on hold at the moment as it requires digging out. Wind increasing later with more snow showers in the afternoon. Ops2.

Tuesday 6th March 5.00 pm A mixed bag of light winds, snow and sunshine is forecast for tomorrow, so it looks like we will be good to go for snowsports. We have managed to get the ploughs and blower through the link road, so there should not be any delay in opening the roads tomorrow. We will update from 7.00 am. We expect to open the surface lifts on the front of the Mountain first, whilst we assess how much work is involved in opening the Railway. The forecast for Thursday and Friday is also looking pretty decent at this time. Lifts expected to open from 9.00 am.
