We are celebrating our 100th year with an Anniversary Dinner at Aytoun Hall on Thursday, 19th October 2017. 6.30pm for 7.00pm (carriages at 10pm). Members and invited guests. See you there!! Will be a wonderful evening.

The meeting was opened by Diane Holme,President who welcomed members to the 2017/18 session and introduced the new committee. The minutes of last years AGM were presented.Diane then read the minutes of the May meeting and details of things we had done over the summer. She then talked about our 100th Birthday Dinner which is in place of the usual October meeting and informed us of forthcoming events. Noreen (secretary) read out the correspondence. Diane then introduced the speaker John Blackie (gardener at Heritage Gardens). What an interesting speaker he was. He captured our attention for the whole talk. From the introduction of exotic plants to the UK by Victorian Plant collectors once they discovered how to transport them to the present day garden. He had a good slide show taking us through a year in the garden from this month with photos and information. It was so interesting and we all learned something. There was then a lively "questions and answers" Members enjoyed a delicious supper provided by the committee. The raffle was then drawn and competition results announced. 100th BIRTHDAY PARTY AT PERTH RACECOURSE, SCONE. 2nd July 2017

SWI's 100th BIRTHDAY PARTY AT PERTH RACECOURSE, SCONE (Perth and Kinross SWI Federation) What a wonderful afternoon it was. Fascinators, hats and colourful summer outfits like a flock of butterfies. We were piped in by a piper in full highland regalia and a glass of prosecco. Lots of "catching up" with rarely seen Rural friends. The speeches were interesting and the story of Catherine Blair's founding of the Rural at Longniddry is always worth another hearing. The afternoon tea was delicious. We were all reluctant to end the day. Thanks the Perth and Kinross SWI for organising it all and Auchterarder committee for ours. Looking forward to our own 100th Birthday in November. Heres to the next 100 years!
