We're celebrating the 950th anniversary of the Castle's initial construction this year! To commemorate the occasion, we've arranged a bumper calendar of events for 2018. From beautiful flower displays in our gardens to thrilling historical interpretations, there really is something for everyone. The Castle will reopen to visitors on 30 March 2018. Here's some inspiration from the Castle for everyone putting their Christmas tree up this weekend. As you can see, it's probably quite a bit bigger than your tree at home!
This Thursday we've done some digging and found 4 brilliant pictures from our events in 2017. Which event was your favourite?
A big congratulations to students in "Arundel House" at Canterbury Preparatory School in S. Africa, who have won their school's house cup for the second year running! The students also designed some crests based on the Castle earlier in the year.
It's bulb-planting season at the Castle and with 100,000 bulbs to plant, it's one of the busiest times of the year for the Garden team. Luckily the West Sussex Girl Guides are on hand to pitch in, being rewarded with a sleepover in the Keep for their efforts!
This Friday we're looking back to our Jousting and Medieval Tournament, which took place in July. Competitors representing the kingdoms of England, France, Poland and Norway took part in the 6-day event, with Poland crowned the eventual winners in a nail-biting finale against France!
With the days getting shorter and Winter drawing in, we've been thinking back to sunnier times at the Castle, when our fabulous flower displays were in full bloom. Which part of the Gardens is your favourite?
