國立故宮博物院南部院區在嘉義縣太保市，定位為「亞洲藝術文化博物館」，以故宮豐富的藏品及各項國際展覽，達到積極發揮及展現博物館的典藏、展覽、研究、維護、教育等各項功能。
The Southern Branch is focus on a “museum of Asian art and culture” that will primarily collect artefacts and relics from all parts of Asia, and will possess the functions of collection, exhibition, research, preservation, education of the museum.
