Seidamet Duhu Project
Description
Seidamet Duhu is a Ukrainian young boy with Wiskott-Aldrich syndrome. This project is about to collect funds and organize a bone-marrow transplantation. Hi all! The project startet! I am Franco Wankerl.
A school mate of my Ukrainian wife has a year old son that suffers under the Wiskott Aldrich syndrome. We have decided to help him. He needs help for a bone-marrow transplantation. In Ukraine there is no Clinic doing that and the family has not the necessary money to do this surgery abroad. I will post here in the next day Information about the syndrom, about what are our next steps and idea. We of course also need help setting this project!!
The letter Zarema, Seidamet's mother wrote:
(Translated from Russian)
Good day! I, Duhu Zarema, ask all caring people to help us in the fight for the life of our little son Duhu Seidamet Fakhrievich, born on June 25, 2014. In spite of all the trials which had been suffered by him, he continues to fight for his life...
The child was born prematurely, was not breathing by himself and in the first days of life was admitted to intensive care with a diagnosis of congenital bilateral pneumonia, hydrocephalic syndrome, developmental delay as a consequence of hypoxic-ischemic injury of the central nervous system. After 3 weeks the condition improved and he was transferred to the Department of immature infants, where we had been being for another 1 month and were discharged.
When the child turned 2.5 months, we were again admitted to the hospital with the diagnosis of bilateral pneumonia, signs of hemorrhagic syndrome of the feet, blood in feces and regurgitation. The blood test revealed thrombocytopenia. The primary immunodeficiency was suspected, genetic testing was conducted and the diagnosis was confirmed: primary immunodeficiency — Wiskott-Aldrich syndrome. This means that the child has no immunity, and any small virus gives big complications. The child is always in the hospital. He underwent 2 resuscitations, multiple transfusions of blood products, since he has thrombocytopenia and iron-deficiency anemia of severe degree. The bone marrow aspiration under anesthesia, two MRI, endless X-ray of lungs and head ultrasound were 'conducted. The replacement therapy by Bioven Mono medicine is conducted every 28 days. The treatment with costly anti-bacterial and anti-fungal drugs is conducted constantly.
The condition of the child is getting worse every day and the rescue for him is bone-marrow transplantation from an unrelated donor (relative donor was not found). Unfortunately such surgeries are not carried out in Ukraine, and we were forced to apply to foreign clinics. The Hungarian clinic, which is located in Budapest, answered our request. We were billed in the amount of 140,000 euros. For our family it is a very large sum of money, which we can't raise by ourselves.
Please help us — extend a helping hand to the sick child!!!
