Chäserrugg 2262 m - Spectacular Venue with Stunning Scenery Chäserrugg is the easternmost peak of the seven mountains that make up the Churfirsten Massif. It rises up gently from Toggenburg to the north and becomes a steep cliff to the south, plummeting almost 6250 ft to Walensee. The new mountain restaurant, extending horizontally along the mountain, is constructed in solid wood on a concrete foundation with a large roofed area. Herzog & de Meuron decided to use wood because they wanted to echo local tradition. The restaurant is a long, flexible space, with low-hung roof and a covered terrace in front. Glazed on three sides, the restaurant offers spectacular views of the surrounding scenery. (Herzog & de Meuron, 2015)
