The Mayor of Sabac, Mr Nebojsa Zelenovic, received the teams from Serbia and Macedonia in the small villa in the centre of Sabac. The group discussed with the mayor the importance of renewing how citizens and local government interact. As the teams are all involved in inclusive and sustainable city planning, we were guided by the Sabac team around the city.
A huge thank you to all the local politicians from Zambia and Sweden involved in the Municipal Partnership Steering Groups that participated in the ICLD conference last week! We hope you found the days as inspiring and insightful as we did.
The Ukrainian teams from Khmelnitsky and Ivano Frankivsk meet with the Turkish teams from Mugla and Nilüfer in Nilüfer. The mayor Mr Mustafa Bozbey and deputy mayor, Ms Nazli Yazgan met with the teams and hosted a lunch where topics on decentralisation and citizen’s participation were discussed. Nilüfer has an ambitious participatory approach.
Meeting of ICLD advisory group in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Inspiring to learn more about the importance of commitment to descentralizacion and to devolve power to locally elected councils that can respond to the needs of communities. Meeting ICLD alumni from ITP and the partnerships and discussing the importance of mutual learning in international cooperation. And finally visiting an informal settlement and participating in the Workshop of our research on inclusive cities and political participation in slums in India, Indonesia, Vietnam, China and Pakistan.
On December 5-6 the ICLD Knowledge Center met with members of the ICLD Advisory Group in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. The meeting included i.a. meeting with practitioners from the MPP and ITP programmes, a study visit to an informal settlement and discussions on future research.
Fourth cohort of the Local Political Leaders training has successfully graduated in Livingstone, Zambia 🇿🇲 50 women politicians from over ten countries participated in the three day Final workshop.

Idag har vi gemensam påfyllning av kunskap för hela arbetsgruppen på ICLD. Vi diskuterar spelregler för jämlikhet, inkludering och delaktighet på lokaldemokratisk nivå, som i en kommun. Så länge sommaren dröjer sig kvar tar kollegorna och jag eftermiddagskaffet på trappan i hamnen. Jobbet och kollegorna ja, en viktig del av min vardag här. ICLD, internationellt centrum för lokal demokrati. Vi jobbar med demokratiutveckling och utvecklingssamarbeten på lokal nivå, internationella utbildningar och forskning på området. Det blir nog några rader till under veckan om det här. Spännande saker på gång och riktigt grymma kollegor!
Back to work. Så här ser det ut utanför mitt kontor. Hav, sol och palmer. Friskvårdstimme it is! Sprang bort till bryggan vid Tott och vände, duschade och tog min lunchtallrik ner till vattnet. Imorgon blir det nog ett bad på lunchen!
