LOS LAGOS es un campo propicio para jugadores con gran pegada, pero que demanda del jugador una gran concentración en su juego y golpes certeros. Con sus 6.367 metros, éste campo es el más largo de los dos que componen Mijas Golf. Diseñado por Robert Trent Jones Snr., Los Lagos es un campo que presenta calles anchas y pocos obstáculos forestales, pero que se complica con las trampas de arena y con los 9 lagos que le dan nombre, por lo que hay que tenerlos muy presentes cuando se golpea la bola. Es un campo con escasos desniveles y greenes grandes y llanos. Parece que el diseñador Americano ha querido dejar el terreno en buena disposición para los amateurs pero, al mismo tiempo, también ha logrado ponerlos a prueba.

LOS OLIVOS es un campo más adecuado para jugadores dotados de mejores cualidades técnicas y mayor precisión en su juego.Diseñado por Robert Trent Jones Snr., lo que distingue a Los Olivos con respecto a Los Lagos, además de la abundancia de los árboles que le dan nombre, es su menor extensión y la reducción en los obstáculos de agua, así como greenes más pequeños, ondulados y con caídas. Al ser ambos obra del mismo diseñador, no quedan dudas de que quiso favorecer un interesante contraste entre los dos terrenos: si Los Lagos se basaba en obstáculos de arena y agua, Los Olivos pone las mayores dificultades en las arboledas que flanquean las calles y en la menor anchura de éstas, además de contar con greenes elevados.

LOS LAGOS is a course suitable for players with a large, strong swing, but it also demands great concentration to avoid the obstacles. With its 6,367 metres, this course is the longer of the two which comprise of Mijas Golf. Designed by Robert Trent Jones Senior, Los Lagos is a ground course with wide fairways and a few forest trees obstacles, but is defended by many bunkers and nine lakes, from which the course gets its name and which easily trap the ball. It is a course with soft movement and large greens. It could be said that the American designer wanted to present a course especially for amateurs, but at the same time, it can present a challenge for the best players.

LOS OLIVOS is a course best suited for players gifted with a higher technical ability and precision in their game. Designed by Robert Trent Senior, the main feature which distinguishes this course from The Lakes is the abundance of trees - hence the name - and its smaller size, as well as fewer water hazards. The greens are smaller, undulating and well defended. Although both are the work of the same designer, there is no doubt there are interesting contrasts between the two courses: if Los Lagos are based on hazards of water and sand, Los Olivos is strategic narrow tree lined fairways and elevated greens.
