The Robertson Wine Valley organisation was formed in 1983 by a handful of wineries to promote wine of origin Robertson Just before you cross the frontier from Boland to Klein Karoo, the Robertson Wine Valley gives you the splendour of the Winelands one last time. It’s everything that lends the Winelands its greatness. Only friendlier. More earthy. More willing to make you slow down…and linger…and stay.
It is for this exact reason – the perfect marriage of blue sky, green vines, vibrant people and country hospitality at its best – that thousands of people make the journey to the Valley year after year.
They come to indulge in the fruits of the earth at any of the 52 wineries. Or the superbly made local olive products and cheese.
They come to enjoy the magnificence of nature on a quiet cruise down the Breede River, a day at the natural hot springs or a fishing expedition in a hidden little side stream. They drink in nature’s beauty on a game drive through an unspoiled reserve, or a steep off-road climb – on foot, on two wheels or four.
And they come to fill their homes with the hand-made works of art skillfully crafted by locals who find their inspiration in the vibrant surrounds.
And of course they come for festivity. Whether they want to be winemaker for a day, or like the buzz of thousands of wine lovers flocking together, whether they’re a serious connoisseur or just want to laze around on the banks of the Breede River – there’s a favourite pastime for every soul and every season.
