Mother's day thoughts . . . Some women desperately want to be mothers but can't. Some children never knew their mothers. Some mothers have had to or chosen to give up their children. Some children have lost their mothers. Some mothers have lost their children. Some children don't have loving mothers. Some mothers don't have loving children. Some mothers have a husband/boyfriend or ex who does not value or honor them. As with any other special holiday, Mother's day can be hard for many. They desperately wish they could be posting happy pictures of a beautiful and loving relationship, but that is not their reality. They carry a deep sadness and longing in their hearts that can't be expressed in words. They may even carry scars and shame feeling that it is something they have done that has caused their pain. I hope that your mother's day is special. I pray that you have caring people in your life to spend it with. Be sensitive to those around you. Remember to: "Be happy with those who are happy, and weep with those who weep" Romans 12:15

On Saturday a very large group of people will be flocking to the Free State to attend an open prayer meeting for our country. Hosted and organized by Angus Buchan from Shalom Ministries here in Natal, the aim of the prayer meeting is to pray for our country, the government and in particular the crime that has this country in its grip. ​We are not part of Shalom ministries or any other church group affiliated with the event BUT we are called to pray for our country. In our study of 1 Timothy you would remember Paul wrote to young Timothy and said, "1 Ti 2:1–41 I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone— 2 for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. 3 This is good, and pleases God our Savior, 4 who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth." The power of the Lord is not limited in dealing with government officials, robbers, rapist and thieves; and imagine if He calls them to Himself and saves them! Many of us are not able to attend the event on Saturday, but we can open our doors to those who want to come and pray, along with the million in Bloemfontein, for our country. We will start meeting at the church from 11:30 am and prayer will start at noon. Afterward, we would like to invite those that came out to bring and braai a worsie with us under the wild fig tree at the bottom. Please invite friends, family or other believers who want to join us and I hope that you would join us too as we humble ourselves and pray for our beautiful country.

Please pray for our SMASH team (Students Ministering And Serving Him) . They are working hard, ministering to the residents at Horizon Farm Trust, and serving there and at Grace Baptist Church Queensburgh. A lot of physical work and it has been HOT! #DurbanSMASH2017
