Gloria McConnell came across a letter that had been carried on an aircraft that crashed in Scotland in 1984. It lay on an exposed hillside for forty-eight hours and the envelope was covered with mud. The Post Office collected all the scattered mail and sent this one on to South Africa within a few days. The portrait behind is of her late husband, Mick. Photo: Brian Wakeford

Words cannot describe the generosity of the Amberglen residents. All these goods going down to Knysna in support of those who have lost everything! And this is only the half of it! A very humbling experience indeed! Staff and residents at Amberglen have been generous and have worked hard to accumulate clothes, household goods, pet foods, bedding and all manner of useful items for the people of Knysna whose homes were devastated by fire. In conjunction with the Greater Ambers, two lorry loads will be sent down there. Photos by Brian Wakeford and Lulu
