NOT JUST A RESTAURANT
.....................                               A DESTINATION Cocos restaurant’s island inspired decor, extends from the sealed concrete and wooden floors to the cane chairs, the beaded lights and up to the chickens that roost in the rafters, creating a relaxed fun filled atmosphere. From its first floor location at Village Square, above the Old Harbour, Cocos Restaurant commands breathtakingly spectacular views of Walker Bay and the surrounding Overberg Mountains.

Open from 8am until late 365 days a year, Cocos Restaurant is Hermanus’s fun place with a casual relaxed vibe that suits all ages and all occasions. Our menu offers an extensive mouth-watering choice of meals from light snacks to seafood feasts and steaks, save room for the deserts – they worth it!

As our name, “Cocos Island Grill and Cocktail Bar “suggests, we can shake, stir, mix, blend and layer a mind-numbing number of cocktails for you. But, if you are not into “pink drinks”, with no fewer than 10 naturally brewed beers on tap, including the now world famous (in the Overstrand) Cocos Lager, we are recognised as the premier craft beer venue east of the big smoke of Cape Town. Winos don’t despair! We also offer a good range of local wines and even have fancy French Champaign for those special occasions or just to show-off!

Every year from June to November large pods of Southern Right Whales make their annual migration to Walker Bay. The deep water below the cliffs allows the whales to come within metres of the shore giving Hermanus its reputation as the best land-based whale watching location in the world. From the grandstand position of Cocos you can watch the Southern Rights from our windows as they gracefully swim by, or see the full extent of their power and size as they explode from the water in a spectacular breech. Should their show be a little further out, thanks to Pentax who provided high quality binoculars at the ringside windows, you won’t miss the detail. Even if it’s not whale season, use the binocs to check out the Whale Coast from Gaansbaai to Betty’s Bay and Hangklip, watch the para-gliders take off from the Fernkloof Mountains or see if you can spot the bikinis on the Blue Flag, Grotto Beach.

We provide live music with a regular line up of local musicians and the occasional big ticket bands, ranging from covers, blues, reggae and a bit of rock. To add to the enjoyment we don’t have a cover charge. We also provide a DJ and dancing on selected nights during the Hermanus Whale Festival and holidays. Check out our “News” page for details.

Cocos is not just another restaurant, it’s a destination!!
