Letalnica bratov Gorišek is a ski flying hill opened in 1969, constructed and named after brothers Gorišek and located in Planica, Slovenia.Hill is the biggest of totally eight hills at Planica Nordic Center. On 17 March 1994 Toni Nieminen became the first man in history who jumped over 200 meters. After Matti Nykänen set world record at FIS Ski-Flying World Championships 1985, new 191 meters rule was accepted by International Ski Federation where no points for jumps over this distance was awarded in order to prevent world record hunting. This is the hill with the most ski jumping world records. The first ever FIS Ski-Flying World Championships 1972 was held on this hill. In 2011 it became the world's second largest jumping hill after 26 years of dominance surpassed by Vikersundbakken in Vikersund, Norway.HistoryLetalnica bratov Gorišek was constructed and developed by Slovenian constructors and engineers brothers Lado Gorišek and Janez Gorišek.In 1967 construction started and was completed in late 1968. Original calculation point was at K-153, steepest landing zone part at 42°24' , inrun length of 145 meters, with height difference 127 meters between take-off table and bottom of the hill.
