A newly founded earth-friendly community project in Central Portugal.
visit us online @ www.adagatiya.org or in Central Portugal in Person! Adagatiya is a young community in central Portugal.
Being just at the beginning of this path everything around here is very basic. So we going to need people that are exited about pioneering and can live very minimalistic. At the moment we are working on water retention-landscaping, reafforestation, permaculture gardening and eco-construction.
We are also home schooling our children, make music and various crafts.

Interessted in volunteering?

Please note that we are a child based community and as such want to provide for a smoke and drug free environment!
We do also ask to not bring dogs along since we already share our space with four of them which is not without difficulties.

What to bring:
-Tent, sleeping bag, head light and rain proof/ clothes (except for the summer ;) )

What's going on right now:
-Summer 2017: Regardless if you have previous experience with any natural building or if you are just very motivated to learn, join our group effort to create some beautiful structures this summer working with clay, straw, stone and timber. There are several projects to be done, like the closing up of our communal round house or the transformation of old ruins into living space.

We have English, German, Polish and Portuguese speakers around. So choose the language of your preference. :)

Meet the new Adagatiya pickup: "Judy Farness" (baptised by Feidhlim, who said she went already very far in her life, 600000km, so her surname is "Farness" ; ) Birthyear 1985, was a real bargein near Guarda, in very good condition. Let s hope she will serve us even better than Susie blue, that died in a crash beginning of October.

Hey guys, so, I have found 3 recipes for the natural floor wax: I will try a mix of the 1st and the 3rd one very soon most likely, will post photos of the treated wood and progress. :) Here they are, used google translator from German woodworking pages: Recipe 1: 50 g bees wax 5g Carnauba wax 300 ml pure turpentine 25 g curd soap 150 ml boiling water 5-6 drops of essential oil "Slowly heat the wax and turpentine in a water bath until the wax has melted. Grate the soap into the boiling water and stir vigorously to dissolve. Allow the soapy water to cool slightly. Once it is only lukewarm, stir with the melted wax to an emulsion. Fill in small containers with tight-fitting lids. The polish is durable. This home-made product takes my wife to the maintenance of our solid wood furniture, it even stains to a certain extent, cleans exquisitely, and gives on wood surfaces a silky deep shine! The amount of individual components can be multiplied, so that you have to do the work only every few years." Recipe 2: Heat 200 grams of beeswax in 900 ml of water (pot size at least 5 liters more is better) until the wax has melted. Dissolve 30 g of potassium carbonate in 100 ml of water and slowly stir this mixture into the hot wax / water mixture while constantly stirring, which now causes a strong burst / foaming. Remove the mixture from the heat source and stir until cold. This is important, otherwise the wax settles like foam. Potassium carbonate (K2CO3) other denoting potash, SalTartari Ammonium carbonate (NH4HCO3) staghorn salt can also be used. If the vessel is too small, there is a risk that the mixture will overflow (and better halve kitchen ban) Recipe 3: Prerequisite for this mixture is a closed heat source, z. B. Closed electric hob, otherwise significant fire hazard! 300 gr beeswax are heated in 700 ml of turpentine / replacement on the heat source and stirred well after melting the wax. Now remove the mixture from the heat source and stir until cold. To achieve a thicker layer of wax or more shine on 250 gr beeswax 50 g carnauba wax Use (goes only in recipe 2) A higher proportion of carnauba wax is not advisable for soil wax, as a too large Glaette can arise. If possible, use the turpentine / substitute mixes outdoors to avoid potentially explosive concentrations. Do not overheat risk of self-exhaustion !!!
