“Once again doing it with Style®” [en] Once again me and my friend Luís Fonseca, by far one of the best Dental Technicians in Europe, got together during the weekend to have fun in the Laboratory. And by that, I mean we were working hard all saturday and sunday to finish some of our more recent cases. A lot was accomplished but, as always, much more is still ahead of us and the future will surely be stimulating. Once again, we had the honor of using the new IPS Style® ceramic that will be released to market on February. The cast portrayed in the photo belongs to a very interesting and demanding case of Amelogenesis, so we decided to use this new ceramic over refractory die to achieve our goals and I, the person who is always unsatisfied and ceaselessly looks for more and better, was in fact very pleased with this new material. It is highly stable with optimized shrinkage and the newly added Oxyapatite crystals are a true game changer in terms of translucency and depth...
EN: Success requires work and commitment… Even nowadays there are still colleagues who prophesize the failure of bonded ceramics. The literature is clear enough stating that if the bonding technique is performed correctly, it is more likely to fracture the tooth or fracture the ceramic than to break the interface between the two… meaning that it is easier to break everything else than to witness a veneer debonding. But that is precisely the main problem: performing a correct bonding technique. It takes time, patience, skill, expensive materials and most of all it takes a great amount of knowledge and more than 25 distinct steps. Just a tip shown in the image… I haven’t used wedges in cementation for more than 5 years… wedjet is much more gentle with the soft tissues and has a similar result. Bonding is not meant to be performed by he who wants it, but by he who deeply knows how to do it… PT: O sucesso requere trabalho e dedicação... Hoje em dia ainda existem colegas que profetizam...
EN: Simple things make a difference… A photo of another everyday treatment, an onlay – the perfect way for emulating the natural tooth structure by using resin as a material with similar characteristics to dentin and ceramic as a material much alike enamel. Apart from these structural advantages, onlays allow greater tooth preservation when compared to crown preparations that normally end up destroying the circumferential remaining tooth structure. This time I decided to use this hydrofluoric acid at 5% from BM4. As you all know, I rarely talk about brands and prefer to speak in terms of the material nature and structure… However, this material was a complete surprise when compared to several other hydrofluoric acids I tried, both in terms of consistency and viscosity as well as in terms of visual results in the ceramic (soon I will try some analytical tests for sure)… It is the first that completely etches the entire surface in the correct time, without the need of selective...
EN: We live in a time where the future is now… Cobra Ultravision Image showing a technique using a handpiece with a special light source that allows the Dentist to clearly see the fluorescence disparities of numerous materials. In this specific photo, the treatment consists of tooth preparation through the mock-up (appears as a lighter blue in the image, when compared with a darker blue corresponding to the tooth structure) in a patient with amelogenesis for the conservative aesthetic and functional rehabilitation with veneers. This technique can be applied to a multitude of treatments to facilitate a careful conservation of tooth structure by enabling the professional to undoubtedly see the difference between materials and eliminate just the absolutely necessary and not a millimeter more. PT: Vivemos numa era em que o futuro é agora... Cobra Ultravision A imagem mostra uma técnica que recorre à utilização de turbinas com uma fonte iluminação especial que permite ao Médico...
