Congratulations to our 2019 DNV GL summer project students on your final presentation! Over 6 weeks, the 8 students explored how DNV GL's reams of requirements could be digitalized - all 1.5 million of them! The students from a range of disciplines started by interviewing the creators and users of rules, standards and other requirements, and found today's keyword-based search solution is time consuming, and could lead to inaccuracies and different interpretations. They prototyped an ontolology-based solution, using natural language processing to help creators write to a consistent standard, highlighting potential issues along the way. For users, the solution would turn up all relevant requirements, even when specific keywords were missing. The aim is to avoid errors, reduce cost, and save our experts time to use their competence in a smarter way. Thanks to the team for your hard work, and well done on a great presentation!
