The world class Gaula Flyfishing Lodge is situated in Middle Norway. A private 6,6 km long salmon fly fishing beat is located on the famous Gaula River. Fly fishing for Atlantic Salmon on Gaula River in Mid-Norway. Fishmaster runs the world class Gaula Flyfishing Lodge. A prolific, private 6,6 km long fly fishing beat is situated on middle Gaula River, both sides of the famous Gaulfossen and north from Stören. The biggest fish of our beats is 20,8 kg salmon caught at the Bruahölen pool. The average size of salmon is 5-7 kg.
The guests are fishing our beautiful, private Gaula Flyfishing beats situated middle Gaula, downstream from Stören and 30-40 km from the sea. Altogether 5,0 km of East bank and 1,6 km of West bank of the famous Gaula river. Maximum number of persons fishing at the same time on these beats is 12-24 depending of the week. The guests are divided in 3-6 groups of 4 persons each.
The stretches of river are divided in 6 fly fishing beats. Beat 1: Rostad and Sanden pools. Beat 2: Bruahölen, Svingen and Rönningen pools. Beat 3: Vollan and Röskaft pools. Beat 4: Stasjonshölen pool. Beat 5: Evjenöra and Evjen pools. Beat GT: Gyllteigen and Gyllsaga pools. Every group of 4 persons have their own beat at a time. The beats are rotated between fishing groups every six hours.
Accomodation for fishermen is in the Hage, Gyllteigen and Öran Houses. These houses are located close fishing beats and have been restored for fishermen. There is a big living room, a well equipped kitchen, several bedrooms for 1-2 persons, freezer, toilet, shower. Guests can cook their food in the kitchen but the food is not included in price.

Gaula Flyfishing Lisäalue – Nedre Kåsen 17-24.6.2017 Hyviä uutisia. Fishmaster on vuokrannut Gaula- joen alaosalta Nedre Kåsen/Nordflå kalastusalueen viikoksi 25 (17.-24.6.2017). Nedre Kåsen alue voidaan liittää Gaula Flyfishing rotaatiokalastukseen viikolla 17-24.6 ja siten voimme tällä viikolla ottaa yhden 4 henkilön kalastusryhmän lisää. Kyseisellä viikolla 24 henkilöä kalastaa kuudessa 4 henkilön ryhmässä. Nedre Kåsen alue sisältää 700 metriä Gaula-joen lännen- eli vasemman puoleista rantaa ja 250 metriä idän- eli oikean puoleista rantaa. Lisäksi käytössä on joka toinen päivä 250 metriä pitkä Nordflå alue joen oikean puoleisella rannalla, vastapäätä Nedre Kåsen alueen alaosaa. Nedre Kåsen sijaitsee Kvålissa, noin 15 km Gaulfossenista alavirtaan päin ja 15 km jokisuusta ylöspäin. Kalastajamäärä alueella on 4-8 henkilöä. Kalastamme aluetta joko yhdellä tai kahdella 4 henkilön rotaatioryhmällä Gaulan veden korkeuden ja olosuhteiden mukaan. Nedre Kåsen käsittää kaksi pitkää poolia pituudeltaan 350 metriä ja 350 metriä ja niiden välisen lyhyen kosken. Alue on Gaulan saalisvarmimpia ja parhaana vuonna sieltä on saatu yli 200 lohta. Kalastusalueen lisäksi käytössä on myös Nedre Kåsen talo joka sijaitsee vain 250 metrin päässä kalastusalueesta. Talossa on kaikki mukavuudet, olohuone, hyvin varustettu keittiö, kolme makuuhuonetta, WC, suihku. Tästä johtuen Gaula Flyfishing viikolla 17-24.6.2017 on joitakin paikkoja vapaana hintaan 1220 eur/henkilö. Hinta sisältää rotaatio perhokalastuksen, lodge majoituksen ja kalastusalueiden esittelyn. New Gaula Flyfishing Beat - Nedre Kåsen 17-24.6.2017 Great News. Fishmaster has leased one more fly fishing beat - Nedre Kåsen/Nordflå in lower part of the Gaula for the week 25 (17th-24th June 2017). Nedre Kåsen beat can be joined to Gaula Flyfishing rotation fishery for the week 17th-24th June. In this case we have a chance to take one more rotation group of 4 persons for the week and so our 24 guests would fly fish in 6 rotation groups. The Nedre Kåsen beat is situated lower Gaula, 15 km downstream from the Gaulfossen and 15 km from the Atlantic Ocean. Nedre Kåsen beat consists of 700 m West (Left) bank and 250 m of East (Right) bank of the Gaula. In addition every second day we can fish the 250 m long Nordflå beat located East (Right) bank. Nedre Kåsen is one of the best beats of the Gaula, over 200 salmon has been caught there during the best season. Nedre Kåsen beat consists of two long pools and short fast rapids between them. The number of guests fishing the beat is 4-8. We can fish the beat with one or two rotation groups of 4 persons each, depending of the Gaula water level and conditions. Accomodation for fishermen is available in the Nedre Kåsen House. The house is located only 250 m of the Nedre Kåsen beat. There is a living room, a well equipped kitchen, 3 bedrooms, toilet and shower. Guests can cook their meals in self catering kitchen but food is not included in price. Snow on the Gaula catchment area This year there is a lot of snow on the mountains of the Gaula River catchment area. This picture 2nd of May 2017 shows the snow amount in percentage of the median. Most part of Gaula catchment area there is between 130-300 % more snow than normal this time. So we will most likely have plenty of water in Gaula in June and also long until July. This year we have a similar amount of snow than we had in years 2005, 2008 and 2012. All these years Gaula water level was very high the whole June and salmon didn't run the Gaulfossen before late June/early July. We at Gaula Flyfishing Lodge are very happy about this likely high water in June as this season we expect fantastic fishing for big salmon on the Gaula. We have some great fly fishing pools below Gaulfossen including our Fishmaster Gaula Flyfishing Lodge rotation fishing - Röskaft, Evjenöra, Evjen. In addition we have leased some more fly water on the lower Gaula River: The Tislauan beat for the period 5th-17th June 2017 and the famous Nedre Kåsen beat for the week 17th-24th June 2017. Fishmaster has leased one more fly fishing beat - Tislauan in lower part of the Gaula for the week 24 (10th-17th June 2017). Tislauan beat will be joined to our Gaula Flyfishing rotation fishery for that week. We will take one more group of 4 persons for our Gaula Flyfishing rotation fishery for the week. Only less than 3 months before the Gaula season 2017 will start - Fantastic! This big salmon was caught and released by Pekka Karkkolainen on the first day of Gaula season 2016. During the first week of season 2016 total of 19 big salmon were caught at our Gaula Flyfishing Lodge Beats

Gaula River fly fishing rules and bag limits for 2017 Norway, Gaula River fishing rules and bag limits for 2017. Bag limit is one salmon per person per day. If fisherman kills a salmon, he must stop fishing until midnight. The weekly bag limit is 2 salmon and season limit is 4 salmon per person, of these only 1 salmon may be over 80 cm. Released salmon is not counted on quotas. All female salmon must be released 1.7-31.8. We recommend that also coloured male salmon will be released. All seatrout must be released. If a fish that according to the rules should be released is bleeding and dying, it must be delivered to Gaula Natursenter immediately. Delivered salmon is not counted on personal quotas and after delivery to Natursenter person can continue fishing. Scale samples must be taken from all retained Gaula salmon. Please take a few scale samples and put them into envelope and fill up details. If later in the season water level on the Gaula drops below 20 cubics per second, only full floating fly lines and shooting heads are allowed.

Gaula Flyfishing Lodge report 2016 and prospects 2017 A very good number of 241 Salmon and 31 Seatrout, total of 272 fish were caught on our Fishmaster Gaula Flyfishing Beat. Our guests caught more and bigger Salmon than for several previous years. The average weight of Salmon caught on our fly fishing beat was very high, about 6,4 kg (14 lbs.). 220 Salmon and Seatrout were released, that means 81 % of 272 caught fish were released. The biggest Salmon of season of our fly fishing beat was caught and released in late August on Beat 2 - Bruahölen pool. This massive Salmon was measured 120 cm long and estimated weight was 17,5 kg. During the season 2016 we had a very strong run of medium size 2 SW salmon and big 3 SW salmon into the River Gaula. So we can expect next Gaula Flyfishing Lodge season 2017 to produce fantastic numbers of big 3 SW salmon and massive 4 SW salmon weighing 8-15 kg plus a good number of monsters of 15-20 kg or even bigger.
