Description
Health & Life International (HEALIN) is an International Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) established both in Nigeria, West Africa and USA.. The primary mission of Health and Life is the provision of qualitative and total health care for the poor. HEALIN believes that common health problems in our communities are as a result of, among other reasons, inaccessibility to medical facilities, lack of knowledge and inadequate financial resources.
Over the years, Health and Life International has fulfilled this mission by the provision of mobile consultation clinics manned by medical experts and support personnel. We have had treatments in deserving cases and referred more serious cases to appropriate medical facilities.
The organization’s programs are therefore, specifically designed to carry out Preventive Health Schemes, Health Awareness Campaigns, Advocacy/ Community Mobilization/Community Empowerment/Capacity Building and Free Medical Outreaches in the urban and rural communities within the Niger Delta area. HEALIN also provides On-the-spot Diagnosis and treatment for those already infected by various minor diseases and sicknesses.
Thus, an attempt to reduce practices that discriminate against the disadvantaged groups of the society, especially women and children.
Health and Life International started as a project of Embracing the Nations Inc. in the USA and established its presence in the Niger Delta region of Nigeria since AD 2000 as a Non Governmental Organization. Subsequently, Health and Life International (HEALIN) has been registered as a Non-profit Organization with 501(c) 3 status in the United States of America.
In a world where it is said that “Health is Wealth” we seek to sensitize, provide health education, as well as on-the-spot medical treatment of common cases of illnesses and diseases (which is made worse by poverty due to poor economic conditions) with special emphasis and aggression against the scourge of HIV and AIDS – especially MTC (Mother To Child Transmission).
HEALIN is therefore, poised to carry out HIV awareness and sensitization campaigns, create community ownership of named projects to ensure continuity, provide counseling, testing and support services for Prevention of Mother To Child Transmission (PMTCT) of HIV, etc.
Our vision is kept alive by the support of State Governments, UNICEF, Corporate organizations, oil companies and donor agencies who provide funding for these projects.
