DIVINE INSTRUCTION + OBEDIENCE = MIRACLE. "Then Samuel said: Does the LORD take pleasure in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as in obeying the LORD? Look: to obey is better than sacrifice, to pay attention [is better] than the fat of rams." 1Sam 15:22 (HCSB) Scripture has made it very clear that obedience is a necessary and crucially important part of our life as Christians. I believe that the key to obedience is a total submission to God. What matters is, not external adherence to specific rules, but a heart that is submitted to God. If our heart is submitted to God, then we will obey his specific requirements, but it is the heart attitude that is crucial. God does not want us to submit to him just because of the benefits we hope to get. God wants us to love him, and to obey him, for who he is, and not just for what he has done or can do for us. We are called to: "Love the Lord our God with all our hearts and with all our souls and with all our minds and with all our strength". One sure way to show this love is by obedience! "However, as it is written: What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived — the things God has prepared for those who love him". The truth remains that a simple obedience to instructions given by God, can cause us to experience endless miracles. John 2:7 - Jesus said to them, ''FILL THE WATERPOTS WITH WATER"(instruction). AND THEY FILLED THEM UP 2 D BRIM (obedience). John 2:8 - "DRAW SOME OUT NOW..." (Instruction). AND THEY TOOK IT (obedience). Product - GOOD WINE.(John 2:10) John 2:5, His mother (Mary) said to the servants, ''WHATEVER HE SAYS TO YOU, DO IT''. (Instruction) Often times, what we want people to say to us is ''DON'T WORRY, GOD WILL DO IT". NO! God has done it. His part is constant (LOVE), ours is the variable. (FAITH, OBEDIENCE, GUIDED ACTION, etc.) I dare you today to obey God's instruction concerning that situation. I trust that you will experience the miracle working power of Jesus Christ. THE BROKEN MAN AND HIS GOD "The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart O God thou wilt not despise" Psalm 51:17 (KJV) "The LORD is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves such as have a contrite spirit" Psalm 34:18 (KJV) Lately, I have learned that most of the times, the church seeks better methods, while God seeks better men. I have also learned that the Holy Spirit does not flow through methods or machinery but through men. Ps 34:18 explains the kind of man that God seeks. The man with a broken heart and a contrite spirit. A contrite spirited man is one who feels and expresses remorse at the recognition that he has done wrong. Being broken hearted or having a contrite spirit is not the same as being continually depressed or feeling oppressed. It is a legitimate state of heart before God. I believe that this can be achieved in the place of prayers because the surest means to communicate with and stay close to God is by praying. And when we pray, we must choose to be led of the Holy Spirit who takes us to the Word (Jesus) and then helps us to pray to the Father. I have seen very sincere people become very frustrated with prayers and with God; no matter how hard they try, their prayers seem to bounce off a very low ceiling. A Christians personal motive in prayer should be to touch the very heart of God then much of the rest will take care of itself. As you have read through this piece, I am trusting you share this desire with me. I pray that as you go through in life, youll always find ways through which your brokenness could be expressed before God in order to touch the very essence of His heart like never before.
