The Wole Soyinka Lecture is an annual series in recognition of the humanitarian works & socio-political activism of Professor Wole Soyinka, Nobel Laureate. Luminary figures have graced the lecture series, in varying capacities, thus providing a wide variety of participants and speakers.

In 2011, the 14th Lecture was held in Abuja, capital of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The speaker was Prof Biodun Jeyifo (Professor of African and African American Studies; Professor of Comparative Literature at Harvard) who delivered a lecture on the Mega Crisis of the Education System in Nigeria. Two editions of the lecture have previously held in London of which Chief Emeka Anyaoku, former Secretary General of the Commonwealth chaired one of the occasions.

For the 15th Lecture held in July 2012, the focus was Prof Wole Soyinka’s call for the “need to start thinking of a new generation of freedom/anti-corruption fighters”. The topic was A Clarion Call for a New Generation of Anti-Corruption Fighters! It held at the Southbank University, London. The speakers wereDr. Ibibia Worika - Legal Counsel, Commonwealth Secretariate, London, Dr. Grimont Nane - Economist, London Southbank University.
