Dierenpark De Oliemeulen
Description
Dierenpark De Oliemeulen is een in 1987 geopend reptielenhuis aan de Reitse Hoevenstraat in Tilburg, dat is uitgebouwd tot een kleine dierentuin. Het dankt zijn naam aan zijn 17e-eeuwse functie als oliemolen.De Oliemeulen is een instelling met hoofdzakelijk reptielen en amfibieën, maar er huizen ook zoogdieren en vogels, zoals wasberen, katachtigen, papegaaien, roofvogels, apen, vliegende honden en stinkdieren. In 1992 werd het dierenpark daarom uitgebreid met een zoogdieren-en-vogelpark. Behalve een recreatieve functie speelt De Oliemeulen ook een educatieve rol (door bijvoorbeeld rondleidingen met gids) en dient het als opvangcentrum voor exotische dieren.
