An awesome evening on how to pitch ideas! Do you have an idea that will change the world? Have you ever wanted to stand on an official TEDx red carpet and spread that idea? This workshop is given by Jonathan Talbott, TEDxDelft’s head of speaker coaching. Jonathan Talbott will teach you how to pitch your ideas that are worth spreading. After the workshop you'll get the opportunity to stand on the TEDxDelft stage and give a 2-minute pitch to an audience and to a jury of TEDx insiders. The three most inspiring student pitches will be invited to speak on the side stage at the official TEDxDelft on 22 March. Come, and be surprised by new perspectives and ideas during this exiting evening. The jury consist of three independent professionals: · Toine Anderlach, TED coach; · Anouk de Ruiter, TEDxDelft Project manager & curator; · Nupur Kohli, her website. Registration workshop A maximum of 15 students can participate, based on the principle of ‘first come, first serve’. Therefore, register here, before 5 March. The workshop is free, but since only the first 15 persons can participate, you have to indicate that you want to attend the workshop. EXTRA cursus: Grafisch Ontwerpen Wegens toegenomen interesse bieden wij dit kwartaal een extra cursus grafisch ontwerpen aan! De eerste van zeven lessen start deze donderdag al (22/02), van 19:00-21:00, in ruimte 118 bij Unit Cultuur. Let op: inschrijven is alleen mogelijk bij de cultuur balie, en plaatsing zal op een first-come first-serve basis zijn! Tijdens de beginnerscursus krijg je handige tips en tricks om tot een aantrekkelijk ontwerp te komen, bijvoorbeeld van een tijdschrift, website, logo of poster. Je leert ook hoe je het ontwerp geschikt maakt voor drukwerk. Elke week krijg je ontwerpopdrachten die je thuis uitvoert en vervolgens gezamenlijk bespreekt tijdens de cursus. Daarnaast krijg je een Engelstalige syllabus met daarin alles wat wordt besproken in de cursus. Het is wel handig als je al een beetje bekend ben met de grafische programma’s.

Scholars are threatened for their ideas and research and there is an urgent need for support. The Foundation for Refugee Students UAF coordinates the SAR network in the Netherlands and Belgium and helps threatened scholars to continue their work in a safe environment. On February 22nd, the UAF will offer a lecture, two scholars will attend to share their experiences concerning the importance of academic freedom. One is teaching assistant for the class of World heritage: Historical sites, contemporary debates and for the class of Architectural and Town Planning Heritage. His colleague is doing research in pavement engineering. The lecture will be held at the Commissiekamer 3 at the aula from 16.00h – 17.00h. We will end the lecture with drinks.
