Jord Oil & Gas Systems B.V. receives order for the Basic Engineering for Tata Steel’s lighthouse efficiency measures in IJmuiden plant to compensate for annual CO2 emissions of 90.000 cars Tata Steel operates one of Europe’s largest steel production facilities in IJmuiden / Netherlands. Currently, large energy potentials are released to the atmosphere, through intermittent high temperature exhaust gases. Implicit economic benefits of this waste heat remain untapped. Finding an effective way to recover and re-use this energy will not only yield attractive economic returns, but also significant CO2 emission reductions. In order to fully utilize such effects, Tata Steel has given Jord Oil & Gas Systems B.V. the order to commence the implementation of a complete Thermal Energy Storage (TES) demo project as a ‘lighthouse initiative’. The IJmuiden demo will utilize exhaust gas energy from steel production to cover own energy demands in the facility – resulting in reduced natural gas consumption and CO2 emissions. A joint assessment between Tata Steel, Jord and EnergyNest shows the effects for a full-scale implementation of the TES throughout the IJmuiden facility: a 500 MWh TES can yield annual savings of 2.3 million GJ of natural gas (65 million Nm3) and 130.000 tons of emitted CO2. These savings compensate for annual CO2 emissions of 90.000 cars. A full-scale implementation offers extremely attractive economics, which supplement such a project with a very healthy business rationale with payback of less than three years, based on today’s natural gas prices. Should natural gas prices increase the payback period is reduced to less than two years. Adopting this innovative technology, Tata Steel IJmuiden will strengthen the facility's status as a global technology frontrunner.

On the 15th of March JORD won the Oxy Far West Gas Facility Project, which is again a very challenging fast track project. This time onshore in a “live” plant. The site is some 200km west of Muscat, for those wishing to visit. Part 1 of the project involves 30 MMSCFD of gas compression, boosting capacity of the existing operations from 65 to 95 MMSCFD at 600 psig. Three Exterran off-the-shelf compressor packages have been selected, centred around Ariel reciprocating compressors and Waukesha engines. Included in the scope of supply is a 60 MMSCFD smokeless flare system & utility systems necessary to run the plant; power generation and distribution, fuel gas conditioning, instrument air, fire and gas detection and similar auxiliary packages. Part 2 of the project involves facilities to treat and handle the considerable volume of water that flows up the well, together with the natural gas and liquid condensate. The produced water facility will be capable of handling 120,000 BPD of oily water. It involves various tanks, 3 x 40,000 BPD centrifugal pumps and 600# piping for transporting the water to existing treatment facilities located about 4km away. An overview of the site is shown in the attached picture.

Another Job Completed Santos GLNG - Phase II - Roma Another accomplishment achieved. The Balance of Plant for two (2) Electric Motor Driven 3-stage Compression Systems (13 MW), each Package contained a 155 Tons Scrubber Module, 3 Air Cooled Heat Exchangers and 11 Containers with high pressure Pipespools and prefabricated Piperacks. (Picture 1) It took 16 months to complete delivery of said work, which was envisaged to be completed in 12, but the assigned fabrication and assembly shop in Singapore decided on a sudden departure from Singapore, leaving Jord with all loose ends. Opposite neighbor reached out a helping hand and after an exciting period of time in Singapore with the necessary hurdles and bridges which needed to be crossed, the two (2) Compressors Scrubber Packages eventually departed on December 2nd to their final destination Roma in Queensland, Australia. (Picture 2) Some Site work is envisaged to complete system assembly/completion. Thanks to the Project team and Global Offshore & Marine, Singapore. (Picture 3)
