We make single cutaway guitars, stripped of all the nonsense and visual gimmickry, loaded with the finest, most reliable hardware we could find! We'd like to highlight some design features and tweaks we make to our instruments, compared to other 'similar' designs.

First of all, and this is what catches your eye first: our carve is different. We designed the carve to be a bit more ergonomical than others as well as providing some visual appeal as well. The 'counter carve', where the cut goes down and up again at the edge', is just to show off but we think it's pretty!? Since we carve each top by hand we have the opportunity to make the carve deeper on the upper bout than on the lower bout, to create a feel reminiscent of the forearm cut on other, flattop designs.

When it comes to the big changes, the neck and electrickery department get the largest facelifts. The neck angle is slightly reduced as well as the headstock angle. This has 3 benefits.
1: Thicker strings can be used, with all their benefits, without having the feel of fighting against shipyard-cables!
2: The wood fibers are longer near the headstock, giving it a bit more strength.
3: Since all the angles are a bit less than 'usual', the edge of the headstock isn't lower than the plane of the back of the body. So, if your guitar falls, it's less likely to break. We can't guarantee that the neck won't break, ever. But reducing the likelihood is never a bad thing! This means that the guitar will never rest on the fragile headstock when you lay it in a case, on a table (for tweaking or string changes) or other circumstances when you need to lay the guitar down!

We use a different type of truss rod, one that requires very little routing, leaving much more wood than with other designs! The heel is also reshaped, for better upper fret access. To get a more stable neck, we also elongated the heel. The neck now stops under the neck pickup. We tried several designs; shorter and longer heels, but we found that a longer heel doesn't warrant a better tone perse, only much more labor. Why more labor if it doesn't pay off?

The electronics are slightly changed as well. The most striking thing is perhaps the position of the jack. We moved the jack a bit more upwards, towards the nut. It often happens that the jack and cable are wrinkled and may even break, because the guitar stands on the bottom against a wall or an amp, with the cable still plugged in. With this minor adjustment, you can do that without being afraid the jack or cable might get twisted or even broken.

That being said, we don't recommend continuing this practice. We've seen too many guitars fall down! 99 out of 100 times that's no problem but if it falls in an unforeseen way, the fall may sacrifice your headstock!

Another tweak in the electronics are the pickups. Even though we use Seymour Duncan pickups, we use pickups not readily available (with the notable exception of the single coil 'strat' and 'tele' pickups!). You get two choices for the bridge humbucker: a hybrid of the Fullshred and the JB, with an alnico 8 or alnico 5 magnet for those who need power, output, cut and attack. With the magnet we can dial in the final 'flavor' of the pickup to suit your needs in conjunction with the amp, your style and technique. The other option is a crossbreed between the Pearly Gates and the Custom. You can choose an alnico2, alnico3, alnico4 or unoriented alnico5 magnet for this pickup. Expect sweet highs, slightly 'rude', pushed mids and chunky lows. With the magnet we can season the tone to taste.
