Today, KOMF jointly with UNICEF Kosovo Office awarded journalists for raising awareness on children's issues. Four journalists, Alban Selimi, Arjeta Dragaj, Dardane Neziri and Edona Musa-Mustafa received prizes for continuously developing stories on children's health and protection from trafficking and exploitation. UNICEF's Acting Head of Office, James Mugaju, highlighted that media, journalists and civil society organizations can make issues affecting children more visible in the news, becoming champions of children's rights. Media is a source of information that shapes the daily choices in people’s lives. The Television, the press, the radio and the internet (social media) are the most powerful tools for the formation of public opinion in modern societies. Together, UNICEF, media and the coalition of 22 NGOs, can contribute to build equitable and inclusive society.

Training on Media and Children with Kosovo Press Council

Around 30 young journalists learned and discussed about protection and promotion of children's rights when developing media stories, as part of the journalism ethics school organized by Kosovo Press Council with the support of UNICEF Kosovo Office. Issues on "protecting the children as subjects in media; privacy and dignity; ethics in investigative journalism, being a journalist today; ethics and new media" were presented and discussed during a three day workshop by local and international experts with young journalists.
