Torniamo alla fine degli anni 60 con un bell'inedito coniglio sfilato dal cilindro dei nostri archivi. Nude si muore è un film diretto da Antonio Margheriti nel 1968 con Mark Damon, Eleonora Brown and Michael Rennie. Un thriller dalle tinte morbose drappeggiato musicalmente da uno dei musicisti più fini del 20° secolo, Carlo Savina. Grandi orchestrazioni e temi memorabili, tra cui un nightmare che ricorda gli sceneggiati televisivi americani dedicati alla serie di Bat Man, temi ipnotici e pieni d'orchestra per una colonna sonora che completa un tassello fondamentale nella discografia del maestro, fino ad oggi monca di quella che lo scrivente ritiene tra le sue partiture più travolgenti. A 20 anni dall'uscita cinematografica del film SONO PAZZO DI IRIS BLOND, Beat Records è orgogliosa di dedicare la sua 13a pubblicazione nella collana DDJ DLX, dedicata alle colonne sonore del cinema cult italiano, ad uno dei nostri beniamini: Carlo Verdone. Something a bit different from usual posts. In May it is finishing our 50th year of life as a publishing group. Our records state May 1966 as the founding year of Beat Records, at the time speaking a label born from zero. In this picture I wanted to show you all our logo's history, from that moment onward. As far as I was told by Mrs Luciana Morello, wife of my father Franco, the oldest Beat Records logo wasn't created in 1966 but probably a couple of years later since my father became Beat Records' manager in 1968, around April. She narrated me the history of this logo that, in the opinion of many people, always had a certain 60s charme, with its rounded letters and its big "B". It was done by a Roman printer, in an old Roman Typography. I can imagine my father enthusiasm in having it done. At the time speaking he was 40 years old. In our hearts it is THE logo. Then came 1991, the supposed year of Beat Records 2nd logo. I remember a great party for celebrating this aniversary in the villa of one Beat Records' old friend, Mr. Massimo Cardinaletti. Everybody was there, many musicians and performers, colleagues and friends of Beat Records. A group of people now fading into mythology with their undeletable works. This second logo again was done by a Roman printer with whom Beat Records was used to work at the time speaking. It has a more square look with letters laying one upon the other. Then came 2004, the year in which I was more or less in charge of our productions. I always preferred the first logo to the second, for a brief period we restored it and our releases of that period witnessed this choice. Then came 2006, our 40th year of life. My father was a great talker, it was impossible to have something to do with him and not to listen him speaking for at least few minutes. He wanted to write a book. I gladly helped him. The book about Beat Records life was a total fun and it came along with a brand new logo and party, in Rome. This time the choice was to follow the style of the second logo but with a more modern style. It was done by myself. Then came 2016, our 50th aniversary. It's not common to reach such an important age and we wanted to celebrate our 50th year releases with a unique logo. It's a stylization of the preceding logo in a 3 dimensional way. The idea was to put a graphic element to remember we are music producers so, the led of a mixer have been added together with the reminder of our birth year and of the current year, 2016. Maybe a "logo tech development" also given by my inclination for djing, being a dj since 1997 I was always charmed by mixer lights in the night, electricity dancing at time with music. Then came today. We can't put the 50th aniversary logo anymore on our productions so we had to make a new one, or to go back to the past. We went back to the style of the very first logo that in our opionion, under a modern perception of tastes, could have been made more thin, keeping the style of its letter. The big "B" was made small, rebuilding it from the other fonts of the logo but, again, in our opinion even if charming it was too flat. So we made it 3 dimensional to give it more modern look. Playing with the layers of the logo we understood we could have done 2 versions, one thick and one just with the shadow of the letters that, in my opinion, is the coolest. As you can see in this new 51+ year logo there is a 1966 reinterpreted in a more modern way. With that choice we like to think that all the people who liked the original logo, like me, will be pleased to glimpse it again in these new shapes, and that all people who live in such a modern world will feel that Beat Records is a company with an important past but fully projected toward the future, with heavy heart and a strong desire to experience. Beat Records, in occasione del MUSIC DAY ROMA, XVII giornata del collezionismo musicale, è orgogliosa di presentare SONO PAZZO DI IRIS BLOND Un omaggio discografico al ventennale mito cinematografico di Carlo Verdone con la stampa dell’iconica colonna sonora composta dal Maestro Lele Marchitelli. Il popolare artista, già pietra miliare di una generazione avendo composto le musiche per gli spettacoli AVANZI, PIPPO CHENNEDY SHOW e L’OTTAVO NANO, vede nel suo curriculum importanti escursioni nel mondo del cinema tra cui la partitura per il pluripremiato lungometraggio LA GRANDE BELLEZZA (2013, con toni Servillo, diretto da Paolo Sorrentino) e le musiche per la recentissima serie TV THE YOUNG POPE. Tra le altre cose, in questo periodo alle prese con le musiche della seconda stagione, contemporaneamente all’impegno musicale con il prossimo film per la regia di Paolo Sorrentino. Con il nostro beniamino Carlo Verdone ha lavorato per ben due volte, in occasione del più recente CHE COLPA NE ABBIAMO NOI e per il mitico SONO PAZZO DI IRIS BLOND, un film basato sulle perfomance live di un duo musicale interpretato da Carlo Verdone e Claudia Gerini. Una colonna sonora nello stile che scavalla il passaggio dagli anni 80’ agli anni 90’ e che, nelle mani di questo fine musicista, riesce ad attingere al meglio della cultura musicale di due decenni, attraverso il proprio filtro interpretativo e creando un prodotto unico nel suo genere, fuori dagli schemi, con un alluminico timbro elettronico che, come questo prezioso metallo risulta immune all’invecchiamento. La presentazione di questo album alla presenza del musicista (!!!) e del giornalista / critico musicale Andrea Morandi, oltre agli addetti ai lavori della Beat Records Company, Daniele De Gemini e Claudio Fuiano. Un appuntamento imperdibile per celebrare un mito cinematografico che compie i suoi vent’anni, con tutto l’entusiasmo possibile, in questo mese che sancisce la chiusura ufficiale, del nostro gruppo editoriale, dei suoi primi 50 anni di storia! So many things to remember about Alessandro, Sandro for his friends. The Maestro has run a glorious life, full of difficult moments but long and exciting. As many of his peers he was unique, maybe one of the most unique artists of these two centuries. A person with a deep understanding of music and life but romantically driven by his heart, nearly in the guise of the sturm und drang poets. Adventure, art, an open minded attitude, a both exotic and purestrain Italian Maestro. Now I feel him whistling from above, I'm sure, with his usual cheerful, melancholic, deeply sweet expression. Give a hug to Franco and Francesco and see you, some how in the future, Maestro.
