The Rice College U19 team competed in the North Connacht qualifiers on Tuesday 26th September in Strandhill, Co. Sligo. Three teams to qualify for the All Ireland in April 2018. Our team comprised of Jack Braz, Eoghan Kettrick, Brian Kelly, Aaron Ketterick and Finbar Mc Laughlin. This is a young team to be competing at this age group but each team member did their part. Strandhill is a challenging course at the best of times, but coupled with a stiff breeze, conditions were extra challenging. In this competition the top four cards count for either the lowest gross or nett score. Thank you to our caddies on the day, Stephen Loftus, Richard O Donnell, Shane O Malley and Ryan Askin. Next outing for the golfers is the U15 development competition in Castlebar in April.

Three golfers represented Rice College in the U16s School Championship in Ballinrobe Golf Course on Wednesday September 20th. In their first competitive outing for the school, they competed admirably, learning a lot from the incredible standard of golf on display on the day. Well done to Finbar McLaughlin, Richard O'Donnell and Lorcan Gannon. All budding members of Westport Golf Club and future talent of Rice College. ⛳

As this is European Mobility week we are supporting this in connection with Westport Smarter Travel by having a car free day tomorrow Thursday, 21st September. Last year this proved to be hugely successful. However in the interest of Health and Safety do not drop off outside the school gates or at Fr. Angelus Park entrance. This defeats the purpose. Walk a little and use the appropriate pedestrian crossings.
