Portwest is a global manufacturer of protective clothing, safety footwear, Gloves & PPE offering a one stop shop for all your safety requirements. The origins of Portwest began in 1904 when Charles Hughes commenced his business as a small retail shop in Westport, Co. Mayo. Padraig Hughes, nephew of Charles Hughes, joined the business in 1936. After the death of his uncle in 1949, Padraig took over the running of the company until his retirement in 1988. Over the decades, Portwest has grown into a global export company selling its products in over 105 countries worldwide.
Portwest manufacture in Europe and the Far East. The Bangladesh factory employs over 1300 people with plans to expand that number to over 2,000 by 2016. This state of the art factory in Bangladesh has been awarded a gold certificate of compliance by WRAP. Portwest is committed to ethical and responsible working practices.
Portwest's in house design team and product managers oversee the development, sampling, certification and production of every Portwest product. A custom bespoke design service means customers can have garment ranges tailored to suit their own specific requirements.
