PROJECT – TASTY TECHNO FOR A FIVER ! On Saturday, 23 April, Ireland’s most successful techno export, Phil Kieran, makes his Project debut with support from Waterford’s own techno titans, Alan Harris and Paul Griffin. Admission is only €5 before 12am and €10 after, so make sure you get down early for a great value night of Irish techno. Phil has had an amazing few months, both on the DJ circuit and in the studio as producer. He has played most of Europe’s top techno clubs as well as tours in South America and India. On the home front Phil was main support to Ben Klock for Shine’s huge Stephen’s Night gig in Belfast, and his next Belfast gig is with The Chemical Brothers at Belsonic in June. On the production side, Phil’s next release is ‘Beatflow’ this Friday and this follows the ‘Bomb’ EP last month about which Laurent Garnier said ‘Yes, yes, yesss, I love this EP’. At Awakenings Festival recently, one of the highlights of Sven Vath’s set was when he played another recent Phil Kieran production ‘Wasps Under A Tiny Boat’. Using Belfast as his base, Phil Kieran has showcased his DJ skills in the best clubs worldwide over the past decade or so, gaining a reputation as one of the finest techno DJs on the circuit. Phil has also worked with many top musicians and DJs including Peter Hook, Gary Numan, Green Velvet, Speedy J and David Holmes, and is rightly proud of being hand-picked by Martin Gore to remix Depeche Mode's ‘Sweetest Perfection’. Although when people think of Phil they immediately think techno, his releases have been as diverse as his influences, and Phil has also worked on film scores, most notably with David Holmes for the soundtrack of Steven Soderbergh's ‘The Girlfriend Experience’. Phil has released on various labels including; Skint, Soma, Cocoon, Novamute, Electric Deluxe, Snork, and his own PKR. Phil has recorded three full length albums, firstly with the industrial punk techno outfit Alloy Mental in 2007, 2009's Sssh which came out on Sven Vath's Label Cocoon, and 2013's Le Carousel. Through it all there's been one aim…… to be the best he can, and to create the best music he can.
