Description
I create unique pieces from my studio on Vicar Street in Tuam Co. Galway. Custom designs to suit as well as rental pieces from a growing collection. I am so excited to finally start this properly. I had my first experience with millinery when I signed up for a night course in February 2012. I was finished my course in Interior architecture, Sligo, in 2008. It was the start of the recession and the worst timing. There was very little work in Ireland and I felt traveling to another country for work wasn't for me. At the time my son Jacob was one and a half and I felt I needed to be around my family and friends. Feeling defeated I started a part time job and gave up any sort of design. To be honest I didn't really try either to get a job in my field. I fell out of love with my course towards the end. That's very hard to say when you spend years of sleepless nights, money and effort on it to realise its not for you. I loved the design side of it. I loved creating concepts, making models, sketching, rendering and making your ideas come to life but I always fell when it came to the regulations, rules and design constraints. It would frustrate me when sometimes there were situations where building restrictions would sometimes restrict my ideas. What I am trying to get at is this is for me. Designing and actually physically creating from start to finish. There are no rules or regulations in this field, just opinion and everyone has one weather its good or bad so I might as well go for it.

Hi everyone, A morning of feather sculpting for pieces for the awards and collection and switching back over to working on a couple of custom pieces now and tonight..... a little bit of everything. I am open 9.30 to 5.30 tomorrow and Saturday and Monday to Thursday next week. It's a busy weekend next week but I still have a good range of pieces to rent at €45. What a couple of days I've had.... launch night in the Radisson Blu (Hotel & Spa, Galway)for the Irish Fashion Innovation Awards with Galway Now where I was showing a piece from my upcoming collection #structurednature and then on to the RDS for the ARC fashion show where I got to make one piece with the theme flowerpower/summer of love. I went bold and bright and it was my twist on the oversized floppy hat. It was such a exciting few days with loads more to come and thanks to everyone involved in the production and running of the shows and events, to Eddie Shanahan and team and all at Galway Now and to the lovely Laurisa Kennedy MUA who I landed in on last minute before the launch with a few shades of purple under my eyes! I can't wait to see what the rest of the year brings......

Very exciting night last night at the launch for the Innovation Awards.

This week is a mad week with Press launch for the Innovation Awards on Tuesday and the ARC fashion show in the RDS on Thursday and of course a weekend to celebrate my friends hen to finish it off in the best way possible!...... SO...... i will only be open three days this week, today, Monday 27th 9:30 to 5:30, Wednesday 9:30 to 5:30 and Friday 12 to 5 only. Apologies for any inconvenience and please let people know if they had mentioned calling into me..... next week then is a clear 6 day week 9.30 to 5.30 so it's best to call in then if you want to consult on a custom design. Hi everyone, So over the next six weeks I will closing odd days and there are a few days where the hours are altered..... busy and exciting weeks ahead!! So far I can plan six weeks in advance and if changes arise in the meantime I will update. I will have this weekly plan in the shop door and will change if needs be and of course if you're travelling a bit to visit you can always ring ahead to confirm just incase. Hi everyone, Took these few pics quickly before I headed out the door so apologies for quality but I find it best to so size and position of the headpiece on person rather then the foam head....... Some serious posing going on here! Here are 5 new pieces added to the rental collection from today and when I get the chance I will do proper detailed daylight outdoor photos, but, for now whay not pop in and see for yourself. I'm open 9.30 to 5.30 tomorrow, Friday, and Saturday. Hi everyone, Before I head home I just want to show these rental collection pieces that are nearly ready to go.... The two pieces on the heads are completed and the four in front just have a last couple of touches to go. I'm hoping to have them all complete by tomorrow evening/Thursday morning and I will then get proper pictures to show true colour, placement and sizing. Pieces can be pre-booked and I am in the studio all week this week, 9.30 - 5.30. After these additions I will be working on competition and show pieces for March but I am available for custom and 3 weeks lead time is advisable. Leopardstown looked so stylish today and none more fab then Alex Butler and Helen of Daily Diva Diary. Alex is wearing black teardrop base with white pearls and structured crin wrap around bow and Helen is wearing a structured freeform felt piece with handmade roses. ****Friday 10th Feb 9.30 - 3pm ***** ****Saturday 11th Feb CLOSED ***** Hi everyone, Just a quick reminder that I will be finished at 3 today and closed tomorrow, Saturday 10th. I will be open all next week, Monday to Saturday, 9.30 to 5.30. I'm continuing to work on rental pieces to add to the collection in lovely bright colours and they will be completed over the next two weeks. Pieces can be pre-booked and if you can't get in and pick up or drop off I offer tracked return postage at €14 plus rental cost. I also create custom pieces for that special occasion and at the moment 3 weeks lead time is advisable.
