We aim to nurture the homely atmosphere so important to small children going to school for the first time. Maria McGrath, owner of Benin Casa, has over 30 years experience in Montessori teaching. Benin Casa is a unique Montessori School with a large outside play area in Ballyvelly, Tralee. The school is licensed by the A.A.T.I. (Association of A.M.I. Montessori Teachers of Ireland), accredited by the I.M.E.B and follows the Montessori philosophy and teaching principles. The school age range is from 3 years to 6 years of age.
The school is open from 9am to 1:30pm Monday to Friday. We close for the month of August and two weeks at Christmas.
We run camps at Easter, Halloween and during the month of July.
Parents are invited to come and view the facilities and experience the unique atmosphere that Benin Casa has to offer in abundance.

Parents - NEED A BABYSITTER ? SALLY is available to babysit for those in need of some time for themselves .. sally has been on placement here in Benin casa And we couldn't recommend her more - the children enjoyed having her so much and still ask of her - she has such a gentle nature and is extremely creative with the children ❤️
❤️ #freedom #expressionofself #healthyboundaries As teachers/ parents we often confuse our good intent for a child with expectations- which can leave us feeling disappointed/conflicted and confused when the child responds differently to how we think is "the right way" - we must remember to respect and allow the child to be their authentic imperfect selves ..while by no means do we allow hurtful behaviour or not try to promote positive attitudes/ healthy boundaries for the child - but when respecting the child and accepting them in their totality in the present moment (even when they are really kicking off 😅) if we are able to find it in ourselves to surrender control in the "authoritarian-do what I say approach" and show up for the child by accepting "what Is " -so to be more constructive calm and successful in guiding and supporting them in the heat of the moment and once the hairy moment has passed then later at a more calm time you can talk about the goods and not so goods of the day -but moulding/punishing /scolding /conditioning a child to fulfill expectations can sometimes backfire in the long run when the child/teen may feel a sense of repression / not accepted / good enough and their creativity stunted along the way in that they've always BEEN TOLD/ NOT ALLOWED ETC -we must BE the example we want our child to learn from- which is so hard to BE all of the time when you are trying to run every thing else going on in your life - but remember they too are dealing with as much information and interpretations of events -it just doesn't appear that way as in our mind our jobs- things we must do are "far more important" -we must try meet them half way and not react but RESPOND- to them the way we would like them to respond to us in that moment- we are all one and learning from each other ! I often have to ask myself- is what I'm asking reasonable/ fair/ helping them - how would I feel if someone asked this of me -or expected this of me - everyday - for x amount of time -usually my answer is - UNDER PRESSURE !! :/ LETS TAKE A BREATH - STOP AND OBSERVE WHATS REALLY GOING ON HERE - am I helping the situation or aggravating it... Remember on a deeper level - it is in fact the child who is really teaching us so many incredible things about our own imperfections !! Love teacher Rosie ❤️
Parents Benin casa's MONTESSORI CLUB is hoping to re-run our afternoon session from sept 2017 MONTESSORI CLUB is a great stepping stone for those interested in part time Montessori education The session will be running from 2pm-5pm -this is a 3 hour ecce scheme service for those who will not yet be on the scheme by sept, are welcome to attend flexitime/private from anything of 3-5 days until they are eligible to be registered onto the scheme in Jan/April 2018 Aswell as this - these children will be given preference for a place in our morning session for their second year on the scheme 2018 Where and when they would be expected and will be ready to attend full time MONTESSORI SCHOOL - 5 days 8:30/9-1:30pm Parents please share to spread the word Or contact us to arrange a meeting as places are limited for this smaller group !! 0851135041 Warm regards and much love ❤️ Teacher Rosie
