Behind the Scenes: School of Drama
Description
BUILDING CONFIDENCE IN PEOPLE OF ALL AGES Established in 1990 in Stillorgan by Emer Halpenny, the school has grown considerably since, with over 1,000 graduates. Primarily set up to help children build confidence and channel their creative talents through drama and the theatre, many students have progressed into the dramatic arts, and some have made names for themselves in the world of film and television. Our objective is the development of the child through drama. We want our students simply to understand that they are creative geniuses and that we want them to have fun! We run classes throughout the school year and Halloween and Summer camps.

***IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT*** Our name is changing! Our one and only Emer Halpenny is beginning to undertake new business ventures and is, unfortunately, stepping away from the school, with us taking over and starting afresh. We have been working hard since we last saw you all, organising the upcoming term, events and workshops for all returning and new students and we are very excited about the upcoming classes. We are delighted to announce the new name of the school. It has taken some time, but we have decided to call the school: ‘’Behind The Scenes: School of Drama’’ We wanted to choose a name which upheld the ethos which Emer and her school has instilled within all of us for almost 28 years. Our core aim with this school is to build and cultivate the confidence in every student that passes through our doors, using drama. And so, whilst we love to perform and allow our students to show off their talents, we believe that the most important part of this whole process is what happens “Behind The Scenes”. In our many years in the school we have seen countless students grow in confidence and we have witnessed their personalities flourish week to week, and it is the dynamic of these classes that Emer has established which has allowed this to happen, and it is our goal to carry this forward. So, apart from the new name, what else has changed? As of now, nothing. The new term will run for 15 weeks starting Saturday 13th and Tuesday 16th January . The fees will remain the same for this term and the same familiar faces will be there to greet you each week. We look forward to posting more information soon and keeping you all updated with what’s happening on this new and exciting journey! Lachlan, Niamh, Ciara and Aisling 🎭
It is with great sadness that we tell you, our lovely Niamh's father has passed away, RIP https://rip.ie/showdn.php?dn=340256/RobertNUTTY/Greystones/Wicklow

This will be the last production of my school; folks, I'm closing the doors of Emer Halpenny School of Drama after 27 years. It breaks my heart but there are pastures new a-beckoning. Besides, I hear tell that a certain drama team (aka the Minogue-Nutty-Kiss Dream Team) are opening a school in January 2018. Same place, same times, same students, same style, ethics and methods...with a flourish of new blood and fresh minds. This play is entirely their concept: they wrote, directed and perform in it, with absolutely no input from me. I'm going Saturday night so if you'd like to support them (and watch me cry into my wine afterwards) do come along! And for anyone who has ever been involved in the school and just found out, we'll be having a massive shin dig in January 💃
