Big thanks to all the handballers who took part in the Gerard Jones memorial handball tournament. It was a very successful day with fantastic exhibitions of handball on display. We had handballers from Castleconnor, Collooney, Drumcliff, Ballymoate, Bofield, and Claremorris. Well done to all involved and congratulations to all who took home a trophy. The plate final saw an exciting and thrilling game of handball between Paddy Murphy and Tom Foody v Michael Ginley and Darragh Murphy. The game went to the wire and went in favour of Paddy and Tom who won the plate final. Next up the cup final which involved Martin Cooney and Larry Jones v Micheal Jones and Michael Browne. This was truely a nail biting game with a battle of the jones's as father and son battled it out against each other...but the golden oldie along with his talented partner Martin saw off the young guns and proved there's still fire and spark (even with injuries) and proved handball is alive and well in Castleconnor 👏🏆. .Well done to the 2017 winners Martin Cooney and Larry Jones. Well done to all involved in the tournament and looking forward to next years competition already. Also Castleconnor handball club would like to sincerely thank Gerry Curley from office pro for sponsoring the trophys. Its very much appreciated.
