The 6.30am morning feed for this years 15 pet lambs! We have 13 feeding from the 'ewe2feeder' and the two newbies are still on bottles. The feeder is great more natural for the lambs and saves us feeding 15 lambs with individual bottles! We just make sure there is always milk in the feeder and that can feed when ever they want , little and often. The 13 lambs consume about 25 litres a day ! With a high lambing percentage (i.e. Many ewes having triplets and some quads)pets are a given but we find they are worth the time and effort to rear by hand😊 Most of these lambs became orphans as their mother may have had triplets or quads and did not have enough milk to feed them all, some came from ewes who got mastitis and a few other various reasons rejection by the mother, sheep or lamb being sick etc. The lambs have constant access to creep feed , water and hay also 😊🐑

Hi all, I hope you are all enjoying this page . Unfortunately due to maintenance work on the farm and on the house we will not be able to open for visitors or groups this summer . Woodville as many of you know is a very old establishment dating back to the 1700's and this year it seems to be showing its age so we are doing refurbishments . There is currently scaffolding on the house as we are doing structural repairs. We are also working and reinforcing some of the stone walls around the farm as they have been standing for over 200 years they are starting to get weary ( and currently want to sit down !! ) There is so much work to be done and we feel it is best for you as our visitors that we take a season off to get Woodville back in tip top shape for you all to visit us again in 2018. The five of us here at Woodville Farm and all our two and four legged friends can't wait to see you then🐑🐥🐄 We will be keeping this page more updated than ever so you don't loose touch with us and so you don't miss out on any big news on the farm . As a family we have decided the best solution is to take the time to get Woodville back in shape so we are ready to see you all in 2018 ! Best wishes from us all , Richard,Linda,Claire,Sarah and Andrew 😊 (Here's just two pics of some of the work that is going on )

We had new arrivals last week . We lambed our two young pedigree registered Jacob ewes early this year as it helps come sale time in August if the lambs are that bit older . One set of twins and one single and they are all female which is an added bonus in this case! The reason for not lambing our older ewes early is that we know they are prolific breeders as the past two years they have been having 3/4 lambs each . If we lambed them ahead of the main flock we would not have been able to adopt lambs off them onto younger sheep to give both the ewe and lambs a better chance ☺️ Not long now till the mayhem commences around the 10th of March !
Our 220 ewes were housed mid December and were scanned on the 5th of January. They have since been split according to the number of lambs they are expecting . Singles, twins, triplets and one expecting quads! We do this so we can feed the sheep the correct amount of ration according too what they are expecting. This avoids lambs growing too big inside the ewe causing birthing difficulty's and the lambs being too small leaving them weak and susceptible to disease . As you can see feed time is the highlight of their day !
