Rosies Pottery Studio
Description
The coastal village of Easkey, Co. Sligo is where Rosemary Mc Gowan produces her work. My keen interest in ceramics and craft began from an early age. The foundation for my knowledge and skills began in Thomastown Kilkenny where i attended the Craft Council’s Pottery Skills Course. During this time i learned how to work with clay and productive throw.Discovering a particular interest in the limitless possibilities when working with ceramics.
Iv worked with a number of potter's including Micheal Kennedy Gort, Co. Galway and Quaystone Pottery Ballina, Co. Mayo and many other great potters.
Throughout the years of working with more experienced potters has given me the opportunity to practice new and exciting techniques. This has been carried on in my own workshop where i am currently exploring the method of Raku pottery.Hope you like my work:O)

My son asked me to make him a small butter dish. This is my second attempt and I must say, I'm actually pretty pleased with the result. Hopefully, it doesn't shrink too much when I bisque fire it, or worse, fail in the final glaze firing. That's the step I'm most frustrated in so far. There's so much work before that final firing, and that last step is where it seems to all go to shit for me. #ugh #dontcountyourchickensrosie #fortheloveofgettingdirty #notthatkindofdirty #learningtobeapotter #cone6 #ceramic #pottery #greenware #clay #beginner #potter #handmade #butterdish #shimpowheel
