Great morning #strike4repeal
Yvonne Hogan: One year ago today, I learnt that the baby I was carrying at 19 weeks had died
The Irish Independent, driven by Yvonne Hogan, are giving women who have experienced loss of a baby a voice. If you would like to share your story you can email yhogan@independent.ie Loss happens. It happens to young mothers and older mothers. Low risk pregnancies and high risk pregnancies. Healthy women and unhealthy women. It happened to me and probably many of you. I am always happy to listen, share and be a companion through the wilderness, should any of you want that. Don't be afraid to reach out. ❤️
Midwives for Choice
The UN Women's Committee has criticised Ireland policy of having 3 births per bed in 24 hours. That's gives Irish mums 8 hours of labour time. Not enough by a long shot. As long as you are low risk and feeling good, Labour at home. Home is where the oxytocin is! 🏡

What this shows is that there is no need to induce before 42 weeks with a low risk, otherwise happy and healthy mum and baby. There is no evidence to back up inducing labour before 42 weeks. The study recommends expectant management of pregnancy past 41 weeks, a 'watchful waiting' approach, meaning observation and monitoring. On my first pregnancy I was 14 days past my 'due date' and after 10 days I went in daily for a trace, quick scan to check fluid and the usual antenatal visit checks until my little man arrived ❤️
