Westmeath foxhounds, Balymore Closing meet Myself and birthday boy ( Mark Walsh) were in attendance riding George and Joe. The first draw blanked then our huntsman swiftly took us to the next draw, our quarry was soon rose and a nice short hunt in driving range over some decent drains followed. Unfortunately hounds had to be called back and we retraced our steps. Next to the red bog where sport was plentiful with the field taking on some large double walls and stunning views. Moving to our next draw we quickly found, hounds seemed to have been speaking all day, a fantastic hunt of atleast 40 minutes followed with plenty falls along the way, eventually hounds were called out of a large plantation and the majority of the field including ourselves retired. All in all a great end to the season and was fantastic to meet our American visitors and exchange hunting tales! Unfortunately my memory was full and I wasn't able to get any pics.

Ballymacads Oldcastle 18/02/17 Early meet, 10,30 due to the ball that evening, a large field with visitors from far and wide. Conditions were once again unseasonably warm. Laurence leavy and Stephen Hague were mounted today and amazing we learned that Laurence had family from Oldcastle. It was particularly interesting to meet up with Andrew Marran from Canada but originated from wettenhall in Cheshire. A big wall started proceedings followed by some decent sized drains in-between drawing coverts. Unfortunately Stephen had to retire after a nasty fall leaving Laurence to continue on George. More walls followed as the field pushed on but we took an early finish to check up on Stephen.

Sorry reports are late but here goes! Ballymacads Billis Valentines day 💗 Chris and Danielle Hague Myself and my good wife First draw on the side of the motorway blanked but Kevin our huntsman took a nasty kick to the leg but hunted on. Second draw produced and a fast hunt through very wet and tricky land followed, much to my regret I encouraged my wife to jump a bramble patch which unknowingly had a huge drain on landing resulting in an unplanned dismount. Unfortunately we retired, passing the batton to Chris and Danielle. They had a fantastic hunt jumping drain after drain and had a good gallop down the motorway! Kevins bad luck continued with a savage blow to the face from a branch later receiving several stitches. Our day ended with a fantastic meal of oysters, fillet steak and large amounts of wine 🍷

Streamstown harriers loughnavalley Sarah on kicking Joe, Bridie on carrot and molly on zoomer, Victoria on grace, I had the pleasure of nobby! Bridie had a lovely day on carrot who took all fences in his stride but lack of quarry made for a steady day. Molly and Sarah both couldn't resist the urge to dismount randomly and at speed, Sarahs problems may of been alcohol based 🍻 but she pushed on despite freezing conditions and finished the day with a fantastic hedge jump. Molly on the other hand suffered with conditions and an early day was needed.

Ward union carlton house Myself and Victoria arrived at the most stunning location of carlton house country hotel where the hunt ball was to be held later that evening, unfortunately our excitement soon turned into panic as we realised we had missed the meet. We quickly threw down the ramp and jumped on our horses, George and carrot were the chosen two , following prints we caught up with some car followers who informed us the field would pass by shortly. After a brief wait the fieldmaster passed by and before we could finish our apologies we were invited up front. Thus followed an adrenaline fulled burst across country at high speed taking in some mighty drains, definitely a day to remember and a return visit much needed 👌

Ballymacads, Fore The weather was fantastic, the scenery breathtaking and hospitality amazing. Horses were keen and our guests ( Mr Harvey Mr Hague and Mr Slater ) were excited nervous and anxious respectively. The hounds didn't let us down working tirelessly and the country threw us it's all. Huge drains quickly became the order of the day and everyone jumped them well particularly Amy and her amazing pony Ozzie who I was immensely proud of and those present will understand. We hunted till light faded and then being approx 8 miles from the meet called for wagons whilst our visitors hurriedly made their way back to the airport. In all a magical day and I can't wait for next Tuesday 👌
