Tidiest Cemetery Awards 2017 Cloontuskert Cemetery has just won the Award for the Tidiest Cemetery 2017 in Co. Roscommon which was announced this evening in Aras an Chontae, Roscommon!! It’s a very proud moment for everyone involved following on from such positive comments by the Tidy Town Judges. It has just brought a end to what has been a wonderful year for the Cemetery and for the people who support us in every way possible thanks to everyone who has made this possible. The Memorial Garden was highly commended in the landscaping and pollination section. Johnny Malone excepted the Award on behalf of the Committee and a cheque for € 300 which we will be putting towards our 2018 project!
Cloontuskert Cemetery Committee has received an invitation from the Environment Section of Roscommon County Council, to attend this year's Environmental Awards Ceremony -Tidy Burial Ground 2017! Presentation of prizes takes place on 7th November at 3pm. It would cap off a wonderful year for the Cemetery Committee if we were to win the Tidiest Cemetery Award. It would be a great follow on from the wholesome praise received again from this year's Tidy Town Judges. We were delighted once again to have played our part in the Annual gaining of points. We will keep you all posted as to the outcome of the results on the 7th of November.
After a very successful year, Cloontuskert Cemetery Committee would like to express our gratitude to everyone who supported our recent collection for the monument and the maintenance of the Cemetery, your generosity is greatly appreciated. A special thanks to our sponsors who covered the cost of all the groundwork leaving us with just the cost of the statue, due to your generosity we have managed to cover the cost of the project. The Cemetery now has a beautiful focal point which will enhance the Cemetery for years to come. Our kind sponsors were Roscommon Co. Council, James Irwin Construction, Sean Murtagh Construction, ESB Lanesboro, Lanesboro/Ballyleague Credit Union, Irish Pallet Systems Ltd., Ballyleague, Bernard Keane SuperValu, SPJ Ltd. Thoughts now turn to 2018, we have plans for further enhancement of the Cemetery while not as big a scale as this year, it will be just as beautiful and will be funded from surplus funds from this year as all monies raised are invested in the Cemetery. More information on future will come later on.
