Purveyors of fine food, gourmet hampers, wine and cheese since 1968. Founded in 1968 in the heart of Rathgar Village, The Gourmet Shop took over from the old Leverett & Frye gourmet store. It was from this famous grocery chain that brothers Sean and Tommy Cronin learnt their trade and valuable knowledge both working in the Grafton St and Dundrum branch before setting up the family run business to this day in Rathgar. The shop is now run by proprietor Sean and his daughter.

Step through the burgundy-painted exterior and antique-style lettering shop sign and it feels like you are entering back into time, with its authentic interior displaying exclusive, high quality goods and top class wines. There is an excellent choice of cheeses and various cuts of cold meats available from the deli.  

It is a shop for all seasons and food aficionados. Apart from locals from the Rathgar area, people travel from all over the country to come to this shop especially at Christmas to buy quality dried fruit for their Christmas cakes. Many customers say it isn't Christmas until they enter The Gourmet Shop. Christmas hampers are also a hugely popular gift to give or to get your hands on.

Nowadays as most traditional shops have disappeared,  The Gourmet Shop still retains a local, unique and personal feel to any customer who walks in the door.
