facebook.comBrilliant news- The Arklow Festival has been rescheduled. We don't have the exact times and dates yet but we'll let you know as soon as we do. Time to dust off the poems and begin rehearsing again! 🗣
*** School bus info update *** The latest information that we've been given is as follows: The following routes will operate from tomorrow onwards: Dave Binnion Ann Dunbar Ken Bolger Tony Doyle's route will NOT operate.
If the girls wish then we suggest that they wear their tracksuits into school tomorrow for comfort. They are more than welcome to wear their wellies in & change into runners for indoors. There is still quite an accumulation of snow on the school grounds, it might be easier for the children to walk across the school car-park but please, absolutely no driving up on the car-park in the interest of the children's safety. Again we stress that, although the school will be opened, we want each family to assess their own roads & make a decision to attend based on your own safety. This may mean that some children may miss school or come in slightly later when there's been some thaw. Travel safely everyone- your health & safety is paramount.
After a lot of digging by Mrs. Sheehan & MJ, we are delighted to say that school will re-open tomorrow. We ask the children to stick to the paths that have been cleared. It is unknown yet if the buses will run, I'll provide an update when we know for sure. Some staff & children may still have a lot of snow to contend with so we ask each person make a decision to travel with their own safety in mind. Looking forward to some normality tomorrow! See you at 9.10am
Happy Name Day everyone (yes, it's really a thing!) If the children are getting a bit bored then have them investigate the origin of their name, there's lots of useful websites for this. Check out www.cso.ie- there's a really cool section where you can check out how many babies were born with your name in the year you were born. There's loads of interesting statistics to look at too.
Parents, the school grounds have been inspected & we've made the tough decision to remain closed tomorrow, Monday, 5th March. We hope to open on Tuesday. Access to the school is very limited as the church car park has an enormous volume of snow at both entrance & exit points. In the interest of all the children, parents' & staff safety we simply cannot open. Both the Girls' & Boys' Schools will remain shut. We apologize for any inconvenience but every decision is made in the best interest of the children.
Sad, but probably inevitable, to see this happening. Perhaps it'll be scheduled to take place at a later date.
Fed up of the snow & cold? Put your feet up, get cosy and read a book to celebrate World Book Day 🤗📚
As you may already be aware the DES has issued instructions for all schools to close in the Leinster area due to the impending blizzards, therefore Our Lady's School & Rathdrum BNS will remain closed until Monday, 5th March. Enjoy the snow but be safe, wrap up well & remain indoors unless absolutely necessary. Could all girls read over their Arklow Festival poems please! 🤗
Due to the status red warning issued by Met Eireann we have decided to remain closed for today. Whereas the current accumulations of snow in a lot of areas is quite low there is a lot of ice & more snow forecast. We will update you about tomorrow as the day progresses. Stay warm & if you need to travel please do so safely. ⛄
Spring cleaning? Bring your bags of used & unwanted clothes into school by the end of the week. Green recycling bags are available from the school. Thank you
