Very impressed with this retreat, the place is magical and Laila holds the space so well. A mix of dynamic asana, somatics, chi gong, meditation and pranayama. Highly recommend if anyone is looking to recharge the batteries!

Nourish Your Nerves

I am very excited to be collaborating again with my sister Sinead to bring you a half day workshop on how to ‘Nourish your Nerves’. This workshop is for you if you regularly experience chronic stress, overwhelm, anxiety, low mood, low energy, poor sleep, feeling unsatisfied in life or chronic pain. Our nervous system is responsible for controlling the larger part of many vital functions as well as how we feel. Whether we know it or not, many of us have overstimulated nervous systems which impacts greatly on how we live on a day to day basis and also can have long term consequences. The good news is we can restore and balance our nervous system using a variety of tools and small lifestyle changes. We believe in the power of subtle practices and know that you don’t have to overhaul you whole life to experience more wellness on a daily basis. For many of us the Western medical model of ‘One pill, One Ill’ has been unsuccessful. We believe we are holistic and complex and wellness is a journey incorporating physical, mental, emotional and spiritual wellbeing. What to expect from this workshop: Yoga Asana Practice (please note this is not a yoga workshop and no yoga experience is necessary to attend) Yoga Nidra (a supportive resting meditative practice completed lying down) Pranayama (breathing techniques) A conversation on wellbeing and tools to help restore nervous system balance Information on the impact nutrition has on our mental health and guidelines to achieve optimum wellbeing Some light refreshments The workshop will be held in a safe, non judgemental and confidential space. The investment for this course is €49 and places are limited. Please email thementalhealthnutritionist@hotmail.com to book your place. If you feel like you would benefit from this course but finances are stopping you please contact us directly and we can come to an arrangement. We are based in Carnmore. You will find directions here www.youryogawithgillian.com/location About Gillian Gillian is a professionally qualified social worker since 2009. Since then she has worked in a variety of settings including mental health. She completed her first 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training in 2013 and a second in 2014. She has always been interested in the holistic approach to working with people and has found huge benefits of integrating ancient yogic practices into work in her professional setting. One of the key social work values is empowerment. She believes that people are the experts in their own lives and that teachers and professionals are here just to signpost and support and the same holds true for her style of yoga teaching. About Sinead Sinead is a qualified mental health nurse working in the community since 2006. Sinead facilitates workshops on Anxiety Management, Stress and Coping and Healthy Lifestyle Choices on a regular basis. After her nursing studies, she completed a 3 year course in Strategic Intervention which is a multidisciplinary approach that synthesises the work of masters in their fields such as Anthony Robbins, Chloe Madanes, Milton Erickson and many more. Sinead has recently completed her training in Nutritional Therapy and is passionate about educating and empowering people to address their nutritional needs to support their mental health. The food we choose to fuel our bodies with has an enormous impact on our physical, mental and emotional health and wellbeing.

Meditation for Inflammation

As I allow my own intuition and inner wisdom to be heard I find there are some things I just 'know'. We also live in a world where we want evidence and science to tell us everything. We probably need both. Listen to Dr. Kelly Brogan talk about meditation for inflammation (which is believed to be at the root of chronic disease and depression too... Have a look at her work for more info). If you would like a recording of a simple meditation you can sign up to my newsletter, I will be sending one out soon so you have a tool at your finger tips 😊

Thanks Crystal for the share 😊I had a good oul laugh at the comments on this. People get sooooo annoyed and righteous about what yoga is and isn't. Myself included at times but I found this hilarious!! Anyway I much prefer wine myself...
