Description
Brief history of Tierney's pharmacy. The Medical Hall in Rathdrum was first opened by John Atkinson in 1906. John Tierney took over the pharmacy in 1955. Tierney's pharmacy is currently run by Michael and Linda Tierney.
There is always a full-time pharmacist available, and most of the time there are at least two pharmacists available for consultation with patients. There is no charge for a consultation with a pharmacist.
We dispense all prescriptions including Medical Card, Drugs Payment Scheme, Long term Illness, High Tech, private prescriptions and so on.
We keep a record of all dispensed medicines for every patient. We cross check each and every prescription for drug interactions.
Patients should always tell us if they have allergies so that we can ensure that they do not receive drugs that will cause a reaction.
We can tell you about medicines and how to use medicines safely and we can talk to you in confidence about common illnesses and healthcare.

Thanks to everyone who entered our recent competition, for this lovely Dove baby hamper. The winner will be announced on Monday.
Tierney's pharmacy, Rathdrum. After 111 years the existing Medical Hall has closed. The new pharmacy will open on Tuesday 2nd May 2017. All the staff have been really great in getting the new pharmacy ready. They were all in on Sunday preparing for opening. Linda and I are very grateful to have such loyal and supportive staff. The new building will not be finished for a few weeks. The pharmacy area is completed but may need a few tweaks over the next few days. We will have an official opening on Wednesday 24th May 2017. Everybody is welcome. Locals have done as much of the work as possible on the building. Padraig Smith is the architect. Richard Conroy and his team are the builders. Michael Smith and his team have done all the electrical and lighting work. Norman Condell is the plasterer. Joseph Scott is the painter. Duffy engineering did all the steel work. David Ward did the ground excavations. Gleesons looked after the scaffolding. Jack Goucher did the roofing. John Byrne and son sorted out the plumbing. Tom Nacey is the carpenter. Noel Kearney has done the lettering for the shopfront. Where possible we have used locals as much as possible and they have all done a fantastic job. We look forward to opening and hope that our loyal customers like the new pharmacy. We are grateful to all our customers (over the past 111 years) and we look forward to serving you for at least an other 111 years. Thank you.
Tierney's pharmacy. From Tuesday the 2nd of May 2017 we will have new opening hours. Monday to Thursday inclusive we will be open 9 to 6 and will be open during lunch. Friday we will be open 9 to 7 and will be open during lunch. Saturday we will be open 9 to 5.30 and will be closed for lunch from 1 to 2.

Tierney's pharmacy in Rathdrum will be open as usual on Thursday, Friday and Saturday in our existing building. We will move the stock over Sunday and Monday. We will open in the new building on Tuesday morning. 2nd May 2017. I'd like to thank all our customers for their loyalty and support over the years. We will have an official opening on 24/5/2017 and everybody is welcome.
