A selection of beautiful walking trails on historic Lacken Hill, in the Forest of  Dunbrody, Scarke Trail, Milltream Trail, Maudlins & New Ross.   Lacken Hill & Dunbrody Forest walking trails are in existence since before 1950. The trails are being developed and maintained by the local community with the much appreciated support of Coillte, Wexford County Council and Wexford Local Development. The trails are walked and enjoyed by local people and by tourists visiting the area. Lacken Hill & Dunbrody Forest Trails are members of the Wexford Walking Trail network which is a network of walking trails throughout County Wexford.

The four walking trails on the Lacken Hill & Dunbrody Forest Trails are varied - forest and hillside walks, country roads, town walks, history, spectacular views and wildlife. Details of the trails are at the end of this description and are also displayed at the trail head located at the entrance to the Forest of Dunbrody on Lacken Hill.    

The Dunbrody Famine Ship & Restaurant, the Emigrant Flame, the Ros Tapestry, St. Mary's Church and New Ross Library Park are located in nearby New Ross town where there are interesting shops and pubs to relax. Scully's Pub in the Maudlins, Corcoran's Traditional Bar in the Irishtown, Mannion's Country Pub & Restaurant in Mount Elliot, the Brandon House Hotel, the Horse and Hound in Ballinaboola are located nearby as is Woodville House & Gardens.

Directions to Lacken Hill:

FROM WEXFORD:
Travel on the N25 towards New Ross. Drive through Ballinaboola and after approximately 2km turn right at Cushinstown Church onto L-8144. Turn left at the second crossroads. Lacken Hill forest entrance is on your left approximately 200m from the crossroads.

FROM ENNISCORTHY:
Drive towards New Ross on the N30, through the village of Clonroche. After approximately 13km take the Lacken turn-off to the left onto L-8144. Drive up the hill and keep left at the fork. Turn right at the next cross roads. Lacken Hill forest entrance is on your left approximately 200m from the crossroads.
