An Earth Rod must be sank if not already existing and the cable feeding it must be of a certain cross sectional area. Any pipework on the premises must be earthed and bonded to standard especially gas lines. Finally the premises must be inspected and any obvious faults or dangers must be rectified and made safe. Although the premises may not require rewiring, situations such as metal light switches or light fittings that do not contain earthing must be removed and replaced with non conductive fixtures.
