Ballycotton 10 2017 No words of wisdom.. No nuggets of info that will take minutes from your time... Just a lovely picture of Ballycotton that will not look as well next week in your oxygen deprived state..!! Honest folks it is only a race..... Whatever your finishing time, try to enjoy it and be glad we are not running tomorrow with such a bad weather forecast.. Again credit to East Cork Camera Group for the photo..They have some stunning pics of East Cork on their Facebook site..

************ Ballycotton10 2017 ************** Posted these last year but worth repeating. 10 days to go 10 points to make.. 1. To train and get to the start line is fantastic. 2. You will run in a race with past, current and future Olympians at the same race... No other sport offers you this. 3. When you complete the race you will get a Famous Mug. The Mug will not ask "What time did you do?" The Mug is not engraved with your time. 4. On the run loads of people will line the route: However bad you are feeling remember they didn't / couldn't run it. #ENVY 5. Approx 2500 runners will complete the race. There are 4.5 million people in Ireland On Sunday Night you will be in an elite group of 0.055% of the Population with a Ballycotton10 2017 Mug. 6. 10miles is 10miles is 10miles and you ran it.... 7. Think of the miles in training and the chats / laughs you had with your fellow runners. 8. Drink tonight can be had without any feeling of guilt.. In fact it can be an excuse to PARTY. 9. Run up the village like you own it. You were born for today. Take the applause, you deserve it.. 10. Feel free to throw your runners into the Atlantic Ocean as long as you have a spare pair for training next week. Pat Walsh Running #25 Ballycotton... 20th in a row coming up 2017 Thanks to Anthony O’Connor of East Cork Camera Group for this STUNNING Ballycotton pic. He had the “pleasure” of joining us for our Trial Run last week.

Another great morning in Cloyne for Part 4 of the Winter series… Felt more like Spring with mild temp and no wind or rain.. Lovely to see Nollaig O’Neill, winner of last years Cork marathon and many other races as well, visit the area and come home as Leading Lady. Nice to meet and greet Trevor Cummins of “ Train with Trevor ” in Cobh who is doing such fantastic fitness work in his locality. Highlight of the day was my Pic with Kevin Donovan, who is doing a 32 County Challenge for Charity in 2017. One race in every County in Ireland this Year. Best of luck with it and please visit his page and give him any support you can. Kevin's 32 County Challenge 2017. Finally well done to my own Gang.. All 23 of you who turned up this morning… Pb’s by the bucketful, laughs and moans aplenty and all thankful for the health, fitness and overall well-being to be able to take part in these races… Never underestimate it or take it for granted. Running makes you happier. Running helps you get fit. Running strengthens your knees (and your other joints and bones, too). Running will keep you sharper, even as you age. Running adds years to your life. == You’ve probably heard it said that exercise is medicine. Well, it’s not just a saying; it’s the truth. There’s a raft of scientific evidence that proves that regular exercise (150 minutes per week, which is about 30 minutes five times per week)—and running in particular—has health benefits that extend well beyond any pill a doctor could prescribe. Studies have shown that running can help prevent obesity, type 2 diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, stroke, some cancers, and a host of other unpleasant conditions. What’s more, scientists have shown that running also vastly improves the quality of your emotional and mental life, and even helps you live longer. == Classes, fun with the odd bit of running..! Forecast good for the weekend so please try to get on the Road. Great race here next Sunday and worth supporting. Many of the organisers are big supporters of all races in Cork.. Don't say "Why" -- say "Why Not"
