On assignment for The Irish Examiner for a feature on a road bowling final in rural Cork recently. Was like stepping back in time. Very cool to be able to document it with the spectators and competitors being very welcoming to my intruding presence. Can be a struggle to leave a warm apartment on evenings like today but once I'm out I can happily stay out in the sub zero temperatures. I think my body has built up a good resistance over the years from covering matches over the last 10 winters in Ireland. Much more refreshing than going for a run or the gym. Took this photo of the oil refinery in Whitegate Co. Cork which looks fairly drab and depressing during the day but comes to life at night.

Good fun working on the launch of Famelab which takes place next week in Cork. It is the world's largest science communication competition where competitors bring short and quirky stories from science and engineering to the stage in a down-to-earth kinda way so idiots like myself have a chance of understanding :) On this Wednesday at the Triskel Christchurch, free entry!
