Wednesday 6th December 2017 was a very proud day for the 153rd Lusk Scout Group . Our own Scout Leader and Deputy Group Leader Darren Daly received his Gold Gaisce Awards from President Michael D Higgins at ceremony in Dublin Castle. The President showed a keen interest in Darren and his achievements and took the time to chat informally with him. In turn, Darren gifted President Higgins with a 153rd Lusk Necko which he will be keeping in Áras an Uachtaráin. The achievement of a Gold Gaisce Award is the culmination of 30 months hard work and dedication for Darren which involved him learning and mastering new skills, overcoming physical challenges and showing service and dedication to our community. Darren put in a lot of the groundwork for this award during the years he has spent with the group as a Youth Member, Rover and Adult Volunteer. If this wasn't a hard enough challenge for him, Darren also achieved his Rover Chief Scout Award this year and was the 3rd person in the country to receive this award. Darren hopes that this achievement is the first of many for 153rd Lusk Scout Group, and encourages all of our youth members to give it a try. Please join us in congratulating Darren on this fantastic achievement.
