Hi McD here, I opened my first shop in Bride St Loughrea on the 14th May 2009 when I turned Gerry Keane's old Bathroom showroom into a "General Store" and the plumbers yard into a Garden Centre at this time the shop was known as McD's General Store.
Very quickly the buiness grew with the local support of the people of Loughrea and the surrounding parish and with a reputation built on giving genuine value and customer service, Bride St was soon bursting at the seems.
The big move came in the autumn of 2010 when I relocated to the old Supervalu at The Fairgreen, the first McD's Superstore was born on the 4th Nov 2010.
The Superstore was now 20,000sq ft with a 12,000 sq ft Garden Centre and by now the selection of products on offer grew massively and is still growing.....
With the Garden centre and plants in particular contributing massively to the business it is important to note that fully trained Horticulturists are employed . hence there is no shortage of expert advice if it is required.
The Christmas Dept that opens each year around Mid-Oct deserves a special mention all to itself, with a massive selection of Lights/ Trees & Decorations to choose from, its well worth a visit. Every year the choice just keeps getting bigger and better, this year the range of battery operated products on timer is massive, as for the special offers they speak for themselves!!
At present McD's Superstores are proud sponsors of "An Cat Dubh" Cat Santuary; "Cannine Buddies" who organise dog educational awareness in local schools and we are the main sponsors of Loughrea Gaelic Football Club, we also contribute to many more local organisations.
